Because of your generosity, my students now have access to multiple copies of the Ivy and Bean and Critter Club series, along with two sets of Magic Tree House books. These books have allowed students to read together, talk about their thinking, and build both their comprehension skills and their confidence as readers.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting parts of this project has been watching a group of students read Ivy and Bean. For some of these children, this is the first chapter book they have ever read! They are discovering that they can tackle a longer book, follow the characters and story across chapters, and share their ideas with classmates. Seeing their excitement and growing confidence has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nBecause our school does not have a library, these books have also given my students something our school currently cannot provide—a selection of books they can choose simply because they want to read them.
