They immediately noticed the algebra tiles and grid whiteboards, asking if we were going to use them right away. For students accustomed to traditional paper-and-pencil math, seeing physical manipulatives and individual graphing boards created an immediate shift in their enthusiasm. Having everyday essentials like Kleenex tissues delivered alongside our learning tools also kept our classroom fully stocked and running smoothly.\r\n\r\nWe are actively using these resources during our algebra and graphing units. Students use the individual centimeter grid whiteboards and algebra tiles to model equations visually before writing out abstract formulas. During a recent linear graphing lesson, small student groups worked together to map out equations on their individual grid boards while I modeled on the giant magnetic coordinate grid at the front of the room. One student who typically struggles with graphing was able to use the magnetic counters on the board to demonstrate their solution step-by-step to the rest of the class.\r\n\r\nUsing the cooperative learning guides and task books from this project, our next step is to transition into a group project where students will solve real-world math problems. Working in small teams, they will use their grid boards and algebra tiles to model real-life scenarios, present their mathematical thinking, and critique each other's solutions. Thank you for providing the practical tools that make active, collaborative math learning possible in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1788535059712,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-cooperative-learning-mathemat/10573874/","projectTitle":"Building a Cooperative Learning Mathematics Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Baack","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10269130"},{"teacherId":3132338,"projectId":10408938,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity and support of our classroom project. It provides a warm, comfortable, and defined space where students gather for partner work or quiet independent reading. Having a welcoming spot to sit together has brought a renewed sense of joy to our daily routine.\r\n\r\nOrganization has also taken a huge leap forward thanks to the individual pencil boxes. Each student now has a dedicated spot for their supplies, which keeps our tables clear, saves valuable transition time, and teaches responsibility. Coupled with our new pocket charts, managing classroom jobs and our positive incentive system is smoother than ever. The students love checking the charts daily to see their responsibilities and track their progress toward rewards.\r\n\r\nLastly, the supply of copy paper ensures that learning never has to pause. It allows me to print differentiated lesson supplements, hands-on practice activities, and interactive notebook pages tailored directly to my students' unique needs.\r\n\r\nYour belief in our classroom makes a real, tangible difference every single day. They immediately wanted to look through the invention books, share ideas, and start creating. One of the most rewarding moments has been watching students who initially said, \"I don't know what to invent,\" begin brainstorming, sketching, and building once they realized there was no single right answer.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue developing our invention projects. Students will research inventors and innovations, identify everyday problems they would like to solve, and design and build their own inventions. The school supplies, organization materials, and decorating items have already made such a positive difference in my 10th-grade Resource classroom. Having the supplies we need readily available helps my students feel more prepared and confident each day, while the organization and decorating materials have helped create a classroom environment that feels welcoming, structured, and truly like a space where students belong. The computer privacy screens have also provided students with a more comfortable and focused workspace when completing assignments independently.\r\n\r\nThe extra books and literacy materials have been especially meaningful because they give my students more opportunities to read and find books that connect with their interests and individual reading levels. Having a variety of books available allows me to encourage reading without making it feel like just another assignment. Even the whiteboard cleaner and supplies have made a difference by allowing us to keep our learning space clean and ready for instruction throughout the day. Many of my students are still learning how to use a Chromebook, navigate a trackpad, and complete activities independently. Having access to this technology gives them opportunities to practice important skills while making learning interactive, engaging, and fun. It also allows students to work at their own pace and gives me valuable information about what they understand and where they need additional support.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is being able to learn in a way that feels like play. They love seeing their work come to life on the screen, interacting with activities, and getting immediate feedback. For five- and six-year-olds, that excitement makes a big difference in keeping them focused and motivated to learn.\r\n\r\nI have especially noticed some of my more hesitant students warming up to technology. Students who may be quiet or unsure during whole-group lessons often become more confident when working independently on a Chromebook. They are willing to try, make mistakes, and try again without feeling embarrassed. Watching their confidence grow has been one of the most rewarding parts of having this technology in our classroom.\r\n\r\nFor my students, this technology is more than just a screen—it is another tool that helps them build independence, confidence, and a love for learning.","fullyFundedDate":1699047606593,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-get-off-to-a-great-start/7997288/","projectTitle":"Help Us Get Off to a Great Start!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wiggins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6575571_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y308&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1788316838882","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6575571"},{"teacherId":7135926,"projectId":10033058,"letterContent":"Because of y'all support, my students are already using these sensory tools every single day, and honestly, they have made a huge difference in our classroom. The fidgets, calming tools, and tactile materials help my students regulate their emotions, stay focused, and feel more comfortable while learning.\r\n\r\nOne moment that really stood out to me happened during a small group reading lesson. One of my students, who usually struggles with staying engaged and often gets overwhelmed, was able to use a sensory fidget while working. Instead of shutting down or leaving the activity, he stayed with the group, answered questions, and completed his work with confidence. That may seem small to some people, but for us, those moments are BIG wins.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were so excited. They immediately wanted to explore everything and learn how to use the tools. Over time, they've started understanding which tools help their bodies calm down and help them focus best. It has really helped create a calmer, happier learning environment for everybody.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are continuing to work on independence, communication, emotional regulation, and staying engaged during academic tasks. These sensory supports are helping my students participate more in reading, writing, math, and social activities with their peers. My students now have the opportunity to explore art in a more hands-on and engaging way. Whether they are illustrating stories, learning about color theory, or simply expressing their emotions through painting, these materials have helped foster confidence and joy in their work. I've seen students who were once hesitant become excited participants, eager to share their creations with pride.\r\nThe storage containers have been a game changer for organization.
