Because of your kindness, our students have access to instruments that make reading music a joyful, accessible, and deeply engaging experience.\r\nThe moment our students put their hands on these new instruments for our very first music game, the room was instantly alight with warm sounds and big smiles!\r\nThis project has made an immediate, tangible impact across our entire student body, especially for our self-contained special education students who join our class. We used the instruments as a special reward for practicing great classroom habits; waiting patiently, listening, and taking turns. It served as a powerful incentive for positive behavior, and every single child who played was so captivated that they didn't want the game to end!\r\nBeyond the behavioral rewards, the educational growth has been breathtaking:\r\n \r\nStudents across grade levels are actively reading musical notes and connecting visual notation to physical music-making.\r\n \r\nEven our youngest kindergartners were able to quickly learn and execute proper mallet techniques, for example, bouncing their mallets gently to produce rich, beautiful tones.\r\n The hands-on nature of these instruments created an inclusive, joyful environment where every child felt successful and empowered to read and play.\r\nWatching my students beam with pride as they read and hear the beautiful music they create has been unforgettable. The ripple effect from having these amazing 3D printers in our classroom is invaluable. Providing students with the technology of a #D printer with 4 colors to work with, allows them the ability to invent and design incredible projects with increased detail. They are learning about how to design objects to scale, spatial awareness skills, drafting in 2D then transforming their ideas into a 3D model. Looking at a model from a 3D perspective challenges my students to account for all elements of their designs. Depth perception, area, perimeter, and volume are all concepts they are applications put to use with creating their 3D models. Their ability to problem solve, design, invent incredible projects is now so dramatically enhanced.\r\nMy students were not only most excited to be able to create their 3D models in up to four colors, they are also pretty jazzed by the amazing filaments they had to choose from. The options and combinations of colors and textures is almost infinite! This is mind blowing to them!\r\n I am so excited to see what they come up with and share those pictures with you!","fullyFundedDate":1778029490837,"projectUrl":"project/imagination-inspiration-and-innovatio/10058160/","projectTitle":"Imagination, Inspiration, and, Innovation, OH MY!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lefkowitz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1746462_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1784644314399","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1746462"},{"teacherId":8120289,"projectId":8057927,"letterContent":"When I first revealed to my students that our project was fully funded and showed them all the new instruments and materials, their jaws literally dropped! They were so excited to see the nylon drumsticks, loving all the bright colors, picking out their favorite shades, and getting to mix or match. The room was immediately filled with pure joy as they tested out the crisp sound and satisfying \"click\" of their new drumsticks. Although we recently took a short break from them to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, as soon as my students got their hands on the Canto recorders, they went nuts over them! Our beginning music students were beaming with pride when they played their very first notes, realizing they could create music all on their own, while our older students were thrilled to play an instrument where they already feel confident and fluent. \r\nHaving these incredible resources in our classroom has completely transformed our music room. We use the new nylon drumsticks and Canto recorders very often to build essential music literacy, note reading skills, and rhythm. Even the smallest item, like a pair of colorful drumsticks, has had a huge impact on student engagement. Our next steps involve diving into exciting music games and hands-on lessons with our brand new Orff instruments, including our alto and soprano glockenspiels, xylophones, and metallophones! These instruments are giving our younger learners a fun, interactive way to connect with music fundamentals and create unforgettable classroom memories. \r\nI am so eternally grateful for your incredible kindness and generosity. Seeing the light in my students' eyes and watching their excitement for learning skyrocket has been the greatest gift.
