Most of my choices are directly related to classroom organization. We are a relatively new school and the rooms we were provided were absolutely bare. Humans need an organized, clean space to be able to have an equally organized and clean mind. I believe a comfortable learning space with easy access to all and any materials is crucial our students' development.
With that being said, I want to be able to provide my students with the resources they need for optimal social and intellectual development. We lack a variety of reading material and now, more than ever, we need to advocate for physical book reading in schools. Studies for years have shown that long screen time periods for children are not ideal. During quarantine, no one had a choice but we do now. I also chose to get some books that are focused on diversity because it's important that little ones are exposed to all kinds of different people, abilities, ethnicities, cultures, etc. I also picked some educational games and manipulatives to implement within our lessons, in addition to the organization materials and books.
Receiving these donations would incredibly help my classroom be a much better learning place for my students and they deserve that.
