One memorable moment was when students used the materials to model how atoms rearrange during a reaction. They worked in groups to build and rebuild models, then used those models to explain what was happening at a scale we cannot see. It was powerful to watch them move from confusion to confidence as they began using scientific vocabulary and evidence to support their thinking. These materials made abstract concepts feel real and accessible.\r\n\r\nThey were immediately excited. As soon as the materials were introduced, there was a noticeable shift in energy in the room. Students were eager to explore, ask questions, and start experimenting.\r\n\r\nNext, students will apply what they have learned by designing their own investigations and explanations. They will be working on a performance task where they analyze a real-world scenario and use evidence to explain what is happening at the atomic level. This will build toward a larger project where students communicate their understanding through models, written explanations, and class discussions. These next steps will continue to strengthen their critical thinking and help them see how science connects to the world around them.","fullyFundedDate":1768869100118,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-science-essentials/10037996/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Science Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Larsen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1578457"},{"teacherId":10400467,"projectId":10001505,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our DonorsChoose project. Because of your kindness, we were able to bring Gaga Ball walls to our school, and they have had an immediate and positive impact on our students. The Gaga Ball area has become one of the most engaging and inclusive spaces in our Physical Education program, allowing students of all ability levels to participate, stay active, and experience success while building teamwork and sportsmanship.\r\n\r\nThe versatility of the walls has been especially valuable. During inclement weather, we are able to bring Gaga Ball indoors and continue providing meaningful physical activity without losing instructional time. We have also been able to repurpose the walls to create a hockey arena, improving safety and increasing student engagement across multiple units. This flexibility has allowed us to maximize the impact of your donation.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped create a more active, inclusive, and positive environment for our students. When the materials arrived, my students were beyond excited—there were smiles, gasps, and so many eager hands ready to help unpack everything. They immediately noticed the difference these simple tools made. Students proudly organized their supplies in their new seat sacks, quietly slid their chairs without the usual noise, and were thrilled to grab a ready-to-go pencil without waiting in line. One of my favorite moments was during independent work time, when the room felt noticeably calmer and more focused. Students who often struggle with distractions were able to stay in their seats, regulate themselves with the sensory strips, and fully engage in their learning.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our classroom has transformed into a more peaceful, efficient, and student-centered environment. These resources are helping minimize daily interruptions and allowing us to maximize valuable learning time. Moving forward, my students will continue building independence and focus as we dive deeper into our lessons without the barriers that once slowed us down. Because of your kindness, my students are gaining access to meaningful resources that enrich their learning, support their well-being, and help create a classroom environment where every child can thrive.\r\n\r\nThe books for our classroom library are opening doors to imagination, curiosity, and a lifelong love of reading. For many of my students, these books provide opportunities they may not otherwise have—to see themselves in stories, explore new perspectives, and build critical literacy skills.\r\n\r\nFlexible seating options are transforming our classroom into a more inclusive and comfortable space. Students now have the ability to choose seating that best fits their learning style, which has already begun to improve focus, engagement, and overall classroom morale.\r\n\r\nThe seeds and pots for science are bringing hands-on learning to life. Students are excited to plant, observe, and care for living things, deepening their understanding of science through real-world experiences that spark curiosity and responsibility.\r\n\r\nCalming strips, squishy stress balls, and other sensory tools are helping students manage their emotions and stay focused throughout the day. These small but powerful resources make a big difference, especially for students who benefit from additional support in self-regulation.\r\n\r\nDry erase markers and erasers allow for interactive, low-pressure learning where students can practice, make mistakes, and try again with confidence. Meanwhile, treasure box items provide positive reinforcement, encouraging effort, kindness, and perseverance.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is not just providing supplies—it is creating opportunities, building confidence, and showing my students that there are people who believe in them and care about their success.\r\n\r\nThank you for making a lasting impact on our classroom. We spent the first lesson explaining the rules of the game and introducing the walls to the students.\r\n\r\nWe have had uncharacteristically rainy days here in Vegas the last few months causing three classes to be inside out gym during those days. We have been able to play gaga ball using the pits used thanks to donors choose. We have upwards of 60 kids inside on rainy days and gaga ball is the perfect game to play with large numbers of students. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity in allowing us to bring this game to our students.
