In a hands-on program where students are constantly building, testing robots, sharing tools, and working with equipment, keeping the classroom clean, organized, and functional is incredibly important. Students regularly use the Clorox wipes to sanitize shared workspaces, tools, controllers, and robotics components, helping maintain a healthy environment. The label maker has been a great organizational tool, allowing students to clearly label team bins, tool drawers, battery charging stations, robot parts, and competition supplies. One immediate classroom success was reorganizing our robotics storage system, where students labeled equipment by team and category, making it much easier to find what they need quickly and stay focused on building and problem-solving. These supplies may seem simple, but they supported an environment where students can work efficiently, stay healthy, and develop professional habits in organization, maintenance, and teamwork that are essential in engineering and beyond.","fullyFundedDate":1726916247456,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-minds-essential-tools-for-ou/8473803/","projectTitle":"Empowering Minds: Essential Tools for Our Classroom's Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Anna Egbert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3798382_orig.jpg?crop=773,773,x51,y28&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1589562256881","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/anna-egbert"},{"teacherId":3798382,"projectId":9605914,"letterContent":"Our new Bambu Lab 3D printer has quickly become one of the most impactful tools in our robotics classroom because it allows students to turn their ideas into real, usable products with speed and precision. In schools, technology like this helps students learn through hands-on design, engineering, and problem-solving. Students use CAD software to create custom robot parts, mounting plates, prototypes, and other components, then watch as their digital designs are brought to life through 3D printing. We have also used the printer creatively to make custom awards and medals for our summer robotics camp, helping students see that engineering tools can be used for both functional design and community-building projects.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is how reliable and fast this printer is, it works exceptionally well, produces high-quality prints, and allows students to iterate on designs quickly. The materials from this project have become part of our daily routines and have made a noticeable difference in how lessons run. Dry erase markers are used regularly for guided practice and quick checks for understanding, allowing work to be easily revised and discussed. Graph paper and rulers have helped improve organization and accuracy, while anchor chart paper and clipboards have supported group work by giving students space to plan, display, and explain their thinking.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were excited and immediately engaged in using them. Having consistent access to supplies like markers, paper, and clipboards created a smoother start to activities and allowed more time to focus on learning. They organized their ideas, labeled their thinking clearly, and worked together to create detailed visual representations, making the learning process more interactive and easier to follow.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these materials will continue to support collaborative activities and structured lessons. Students will build on their ability to organize their work, explain their thinking, and engage in multi-step tasks that require both accuracy and communication. The materials, professional development opportunities, and targeted supports made available through this program have empowered teachers to provide more engaging, differentiated, and data-informed instruction. With the new curricula and classroom resources, I have been able to tailor lessons so that students who once lagged behind are now engaging with grade-level content.\r\n\r\nThe program's investment in teacher development must be emphasized. Professional learning that is job-embedded, ongoing, and collaborative has improved instructional practice and teacher retention. We feel valued when our growth is supported; we stay in the profession and bring our best to students. For me personally, coaching and time to collaborate with peers resulted in more creative, standards-aligned lessons and increased student engagement.
