Instead of everyone sitting in rows at hard tables our room is full of choice. This movement helps their brains stay turned on and makes reading feel like a treat rather than a chore.\r\n\r\nThe biggest change is for my students who have a hard time sitting still. For example one of my students who used to struggle to read for even five minutes can now walk on the pad and stay focused on a book for twenty minutes straight. The movement quiets his body so his mind can work.
