My preschool students were beyond excited when they first saw the new instruments. Their faces lit up as they explored the drums, rang the bells, and experimented with the Boomwhackers. For many of my students, who have communication and sensory needs, this was an immediate and meaningful way to engage.\r\n\r\nWe are using these instruments every day during our morning meeting and small group instruction. One of our favorite activities has been a \"follow the rhythm\" game, where students take turns creating patterns on the drums or with the Boomwhackers while their peers imitate. This has been incredible for building turn-taking, listening skills, and social interaction. I've also seen students who typically struggle to participate become more engaged and confident when given the opportunity to express themselves through music.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching a student who is minimally verbal independently ring a bell during a group song at just the right time. The entire class celebrated, and it was such a powerful example of how music gives my students a voice in ways words sometimes cannot.\r\n\r\nNext, we are beginning to use these instruments to support early academic skills like color recognition, patterning, and counting, as well as continuing to build communication through structured music routines. We also plan to incorporate them into our upcoming family engagement activities so families can experience how music supports learning in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the opportunity to learn, connect, and grow through music.
