Since the purchase of these items, we have implemented many new hands-on labs and experiences.\r\nSpecifically, the Work & Power lab, which has students doing bicep curls and other physical activities to calculate their work and power produced. Even though that was a lab from the last grading period, my students still like to pick up the dumbbell and do a few reps or step on the balance during their brain breaks.\r\nAnother fan favorite is the tuning forks. To help organize them, my dad built a stand with his CNC machine. My students often play with the tuning forks and are excited for this unit where they can use them to figure out the tune of the hand-made instruments.\r\nOne of my favorite items is the push broom, so I can swiftly clean up all of the cardboard, construction paper, and other scraps they leave behind when building projects such as their instruments or paper roller coasters.\r\nYour support really improves the resources available to my students and allows me to make a messy and memorable physics experience for everyone.","fullyFundedDate":1769533192044,"projectUrl":"project/messy-memorable-physics/10002037/","projectTitle":"Messy, Memorable Physics","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stephenson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6121081_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699386053571","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6121081"},{"teacherId":8166637,"projectId":10003949,"letterContent":"On behalf of our PACE program, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our \"Ready to Work\" project. My students often view high-level math as purely clinical or 'black and white.' When I brought out the variety of colored paper, there was a collective sigh of relief. One student remarked that it made the classroom feel more like a creative studio than a lecture hall. This shift in environment has encouraged more 'color-coded' note-taking, which has already helped several students better organize their multi-step calculus derivatives.\"\r\n\r\n\r\nThe \"Visualizing Limits\" Phase:\r\n\"The next step for my Calculus students is a project on The Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, where they will use the colored paper to create 'Accumulation Strips' to represent the area under a curve. One of the most engaging moments came during our assembly line simulation. Students first created a Model T individually, which helped them understand how time-consuming production can be without efficiency. Then, using their new colored pencils and glue sticks, they worked in teams to create an assembly line and produce as many Model Ts as possible in the same amount of time.\r\n\r\nThe materials made a huge difference. Students were able to clearly organize their roles, label parts, and create consistent products. It brought the concept of industrialization to life in a way that felt real and memorable. At the same time, the surge protectors allowed every student to keep their Chromebook charged, so they could track production data and reflect on their learning without interruption.\r\n\r\nMy students were genuinely excited and grateful when they saw the new materials. Many of them immediately noticed the colored pencils and glue sticks and started talking about how much easier it would be to complete projects. There was also a lot of appreciation for the surge protectors. Students often struggle with keeping their Chromebooks charged, so having the ability to plug in right from their seats made a big impact right away.\r\n\r\nMore than anything, students felt supported. They recognized that someone outside of our classroom cared enough to invest in their learning, and that created a positive and motivating atmosphere from the start.\r\n\r\nNext, students will build on the assembly line simulation by analyzing how industrialization changed economies and societies. They will use the same materials to create visual projects that compare pre-industrial and industrial production, including timelines, flow charts, and cause-and-effect diagrams.\r\n\r\nIn Economics, students will apply what they learned by examining efficiency, productivity, and cost in real-world scenarios. In Psychology, they will shift toward organizing information using visual tools such as concept maps to better understand how people learn and process information.\r\n\r\nThese next steps continue to build critical thinking skills while giving students hands-on ways to show what they know.","fullyFundedDate":1768170851785,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-student-learning-through-esse/10002451/","projectTitle":"Empowering Student Learning Through Essential Classroom Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stoker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8152156"},{"teacherId":9349831,"projectId":9988122,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, my students have been able to meaningfully engage with technology in ways that go far beyond basic use. While many donors are familiar with everyday technology, in our classroom these tools have become powerful learning supports. Students are now using them to research, analyze information, collaborate with peers, and create their own work. Instead of passively receiving information, they are actively building skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy—skills that are essential for their future success.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students has been the ability to take ownership of their learning. Whether they are working independently or collaborating in groups, the new technology has increased both engagement and confidence. Students who were once hesitant to participate are now eager to contribute, especially when they can use interactive tools that make learning more accessible and enjoyable. The energy in the classroom has noticeably shifted—students are more focused, motivated, and proud of the work they produce.\r\n\r\nSeveral students in particular have truly thrived with this addition. Some who struggled with traditional methods have found new ways to express their understanding through digital platforms, while others have stepped into leadership roles by helping their peers navigate the technology. The makeup tools you provided are helping bring our current production, History of Dating, to life. This play is a period piece that explores how dating has evolved throughout different eras in history, so having access to quality theatrical makeup is essential for helping students transform into characters from various time periods.\r\n\r\nWe are using these new resources during our rehearsal and production process as students learn how to apply stage makeup that reflects different historical styles and enhances character development. One especially exciting moment was watching students experiment with aging techniques, vintage beauty trends, and era-specific looks as they prepared for scenes set in different decades. These tools are helping them better understand how costume and makeup design contribute to storytelling on stage.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were thrilled. Many of them were excited not only because they now had professional-looking tools to work with, but also because it made the production feel more \"real\" and elevated. For some students, this was their first time using theatrical makeup in a meaningful production setting, and it sparked a lot of creativity and enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, the next steps for my students are to continue refining their characters and fully integrating makeup, costume, and performance into the final production. They are currently working on polishing scenes, understanding the historical context of each era represented in the play, and learning how visual presentation helps communicate changes in culture and relationships over time.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students are not just putting on a play—they are engaging in a creative, historical, and collaborative learning experience that they will remember for a long time.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us tell this story in a more authentic and powerful way!","fullyFundedDate":1768022325465,"projectUrl":"project/lights-on-faces-ready-bringing-stage-m/9988680/","projectTitle":"Lights On, Faces Ready: Bringing Stage Makeup to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Benitez Barreto","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8110291_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699072852849","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8110291"},{"teacherId":6451997,"projectId":9994480,"letterContent":"First and foremost, thank you for helping fund this project. Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in my classroom. With these new resources, I've been able to create a positive reward system that motivates and supports my students in a variety of ways. One moment that stood out was during a review game, when students were eagerly raising their hands, collaborating, and encouraging one another, all while staying focused and excited to participate. These incentives have not only improved behavior management but have also made learning more engaging and enjoyable. Additionally, I'm able to support students' basic needs by providing a snack when they let me know they're hungry, which helps them stay focused and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were immediate excitement and a sense of friendly competition filled the room.
