The kids are absolutely loving them! We are using our new manipulatives to set up a strong beginning math foundation for all the students in our classroom. Students are using the magnetic ten frames to count how many days we have been in school. Ten frames are a great tool for students to begin to gain number sense as well as develop a strong concept of 10. We are able to count how many days we have been in school (working up to our very exciting 100th day of school) as we also use these tools to practice counting by fives and tens. Using the magnetic ten frames help students 'see' a ten and they can use the ten frames to identify 'how many more to make 10?' \r\n\r\nThe students are also enjoying using the manipulatives to practice their counting skills. Having the kids experience counting with movable items helps young children develop their one-to-one correspondence when counting objects. \r\n\r\nThe 100 chart whiteboards are being used for the students to practice writing their numbers up to 100 with correct number formation. The boxes on the charts are very helpful for students to be able to line up their numbers and they are able to 'see' the patterns in the 100 charts. They enjoy being able to write their numbers and wipe them off easily to practice again. This is a skill that kindergarten students will practice all year to ensure readiness for first grade. \r\n\r\nHaving the magnetic building blocks is the biggest hit of all the items we received. They are having a blast building items and I am just blown away with the things they come up with to create. These building blocks help students with their finger dexterity as well as their problem solving skills. As we begin to introduce and learn about 3D shapes in our environment, the students are encouraged and enjoy using these blocks to build 3D shapes they see in our everyday world. \r\n\r\nWe will continue to use these materials throughout the entire school year as we gain more math skills. These materials are extremely versatile and are able to be used in many different ways from beginning skills such as counting and patterning to more advanced skills such as number combinations which is the foundation for addition and subtraction. Having these materials available helps make it fun and engaging for young learners. We can't thank you enough for your generosity. We are most certainly a classroom full of lucky ducks!","fullyFundedDate":1755713023848,"projectUrl":"project/crunch-the-numbers/9390446/","projectTitle":"Crunch the Numbers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fessenden (Ms. Ducky)","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1685443"},{"teacherId":9868367,"projectId":9373257,"letterContent":"I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your generous donation of dictionaries and thesauruses to our classroom. \r\nYour thoughtful contribution will have an immediate and lasting impact on our students, helping them to expand their vocabulary, improve their writing, and build confidence in their language skills.\r\nYour interest in supporting our classroom means so much to us, and we are thrilled to see how these resources will enhance our learning environment. I love using this novel because it is an excellent resource for guiding students to make inferences, analyze characters by identifying personality traits, and explore themes in meaningful ways. \r\nAs we read together as a class, students follow along in their own books, which allows them to stay engaged and actively participate in the learning process. Students are held accountable by completing pages in their response journals that coincide with what we have read. Later, students meet in small groups and using what they wrote in their response journals to discuss what they read and help each other understand any parts in the book they may have been confused about. These discussions encourage collaboration and provides opportunities for students to strengthen their analytica thinking skills by having to go back into the text to find evidence to support their thinking, and share multiple perspectives. In addition, book talks create an inviting environment where every student can contribute to the conversation, making reading an engaging and shared experience. \r\nAlthough we have not yet started the novel, Because of Mr. Terupt, past groups of students have loved it because the characters are their age and easy to relate to. The connections they make with the characters help them reflect on their own lives and experiences, while also building empathy and critical thinking skills..\r\nYour generosity has made it possible for my students to have this powerful reading experience. My fourth graders and I are so grateful for your support and for the impact you are helping create in my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1746787086538,"projectUrl":"project/for-the-love-of-reading/9312583/","projectTitle":"For the Love of Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dworkin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5401494_orig.jpg?crop=582,582,x194,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1633655432196","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5401494"},{"teacherId":1685443,"projectId":9193876,"letterContent":"The class was very excited to receive these new math materials! When they arrived, we explored with the new manipulatives during Fun Friday time. Then, I got to work adding the new math items to our Math Tubs, Centers, and daily math instruction. \r\n\r\nThe items that seemed to be the class favorite were the magnetic building cubes. They really enjoyed building skyscrapers to model different number combinations for addition. We also used these for a Fairy Tale STEM Activity to build 3D shapes that we completed with our Kindergarten Buddies. The kids called them 'magic cubes' because they seemed to stick together like magic. \r\n\r\nThe kids also really enjoyed using the transparent number set to build 'Friends of Ten' and number towers. I even had one student comment that these would have been great to have at the beginning of the year when we were learning about ways to make 10. I will definitely be incorporating these items into next year's 'Making Ten' unit. I love how these number blocks are related in size where two 'five' blocks are the same height as the 'ten' block. It really helps the kids 'SEE\" the number equality. The kids also enjoyed the texture and aesthetic look of these items.\r\n\r\nMy class would like to thank you again for your wonderful generosity to our classroom learning.","fullyFundedDate":1742917316157,"projectUrl":"project/we-can-count-on-math/9193876/","projectTitle":"We Can Count on Math!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fessenden (Ms. Ducky)","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1685443"},{"teacherId":8123344,"projectId":8607394,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my classroom.
