Students learn math best through hands-on experience. These items will allow me to build individual math learning tubs for my students. Students will have the opportunity to work on math skills that they need for growth. Math tubs will include skills as basic as writing numbers and counting to more advanced skills such as addition, subtraction, skip counting, counting on, and solving word problems. Students will become fluent in number recognition and counting as they practice number sense daily with manipulatives, number cards, whiteboard writing numbers and counting, ten frame practice, and solving real world story problems. These individual math tubs will allow students to work at their own pace while social distancing within the classroom. While students are working on their leveled individual math tubs, I will be able to pull small math groups to work on higher-level advanced skills as well as provide repeated instruction to students who need extra practice with basic math skills. These individual math tubs will address NVACS K.CC.1, K.CC.2, K.CC.3, K.CC.4, K.CC.4a, K.CC.4b, K.CC.5, K.CC.6, K.CC.7, and K.OA.2.
