They are, of course, familiar with cell phone cameras and social media photography. With the use of these strictly digital cameras we are able to strip away the pressure that social media and texting create amongst ourselves. They can enjoy photography purely for the art form it is.\r\n The students were mostly excited to have the freedom to experiment with the cameras outside. This included zooming in/out, and practicing landscape and nature photos. The equipment is quite kid-friendly. My students were able to figure out most of the settings with minimal instruction, and get straight to taking pictures! They also plug into the computer easily for downloading photos and videos.\r\n I am pleased with how well the students have responded to our photography explorations so far this spring. For the upcoming school year I also look forward to facilitating students' learning of a deeper dive into digital art and using our photography not only as a stand-alone medium, but also a jumping off point for other digital artistry (architecture, fashion, etc.)","fullyFundedDate":1768168511830,"projectUrl":"project/photography-explorations/10001566/","projectTitle":"Photography Explorations","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Souza","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8182073_orig.jpg?crop=288,288,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1728938287141","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8182073"},{"teacherId":8620539,"projectId":10157961,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing the funds for our new books! The headphones, markers, dry erase pockets, and dry erase markers have made a meaningful difference in my students' daily learning. They help minimize distractions and give students the ability to work at their own pace, which has been especially helpful for students who need a quieter environment to stay engaged.\r\n\r\nThe dry erase pockets and markers have transformed how we practice skills. Instead of using paper worksheets, students can now practice repeatedly, make mistakes, and try again without fear. These additions have created a positive classroom environment where students feel comfortable, valued, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nAcademically, these resources are making a real impact. During reading, students are using the CVC and phonics games to build foundational skills in a hands-on, engaging way, while the dry erase pockets allow for repeated practice. In math, the regrouping kit helps students physically build and break apart numbers, strengthening their understanding. The headphones support focused independent work, and the organizational tools are helping students take more ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nThe reward systems, including punch cards, stickers, and prizes, have also increased motivation and effort across the classroom.
