This exciting and challenging project coincided with Nevada Reading Week. Students were excited to see over 50 \"Who Was...\" books from the popular series to choose from. Once they selected a nonfiction book about a positively inspiring person, they read the books and began their research. Students displayed their research on trifold boards using photos, timelines, acrostic poems, major events, early years, and quotes. The kids were so proud of their boards and hard work. They had the most fun writing the one minute speech as their chosen person and practicing their wax figure poses. The day of the museum we had 5 classes and over 50 parents come to press the buttons and bring the wax figures to life. This was such a success it will be a project we do each year.","fullyFundedDate":1768771754453,"projectUrl":"project/living-wax-museum/10039207/","projectTitle":"Living Wax Museum","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rosas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8001238"},{"teacherId":7909974,"projectId":9940396,"letterContent":"Our digital resources have made learning more engaging and accessible for my students. This has been especially helpful in reinforcing reading and math skills.\r\n\r\nStudents are most excited about how interactive and visually engaging the activities are—it feels more like a game than traditional work. It is one thing to ask a student to design something on paper. But when told that they will take their design and make a model of it, students have a renewed sense of excitement. With the donated supplies my students will see how their designs translate into geometric 3-D models. I am excited for my students to see if their designs are viable by creating a model. While I hope they are all successful, I anticipate students will learn from their successes and from their failures. Because they can easily erase and try again, students are more willing to take risks and build confidence in their reading and writing skills.\r\n\r\nThe handheld mirrors have been especially powerful during phonics instruction. Being able to see themselves form letters and produce sounds helps students connect what their mouths are doing to the sounds they hear.
