Recess has become a richer experience since we have more recess equipment than a typical primary classroom. With a class size of 27 students, our new equipment allows students to play in groups of 2 to 3 with little to no conflict due to our increased amount of playground balls.\r\n\r\nStudents were very excited to see packages from a variety of places. We also opened the boxes as a class. I was able to capture my students' true reaction when receiving these essential recess materials. Our classroom has the largest bucket of supplies that travels with our class to recess each day. \r\n\r\n Since we have additional supplies for recess a new classroom job was created specifically for the task of bringing out our playground essentials. The students love the water table, and it has been a wonderful addition to our recess time during the hot summer days. You were generous enough to donate supplies for them to make sock snowmen to go along with the author study we did on Carolyn Buehner Snowmen books. They made their own snowman that could last all year and then they wrote about what they would do if their snowman came to life as in the books. Also, since we are in the desert we made craft stick glitter snowflakes, to reflect the change in season to winter. The craft sticks were also used to make picture frames, and several holiday related projects. My students also used the beads to count to 100 and then turned it into a necklace. Every time they get to make a project using supplies that you funded, they tell me that it is the best day ever!
