Many of my 2nd graders immediately began flipping through the pages, eager to read and share the stories with classmates. These books have become a special part of our daily reading time and have helped motivate even some of my more reluctant readers to pick up a book with confidence and excitement. The engaging illustrations and accessible text have made reading feel fun and successful for all learners.\r\n\r\nWe are using the graphic novels during independent reading, partner reading, and small-group discussions focused on comprehension and storytelling. One memorable moment was seeing students voluntarily continue reading during indoor recess because they were so invested in the characters and plots. While many of us love reading, teaching students how to truly engage with texts involves building important skills like comprehension, making inferences, identifying themes, and connecting stories to their own lives. With these new books, students are practicing how to ask thoughtful questions, visualize what they're reading, and discuss ideas with their peers. They're not just reading words—they're learning how to think deeply about what they read.\r\nIn our classroom, reading has become an interactive and exciting part of the day. Students participate in small group discussions, partner reading, and independent reading time where they can explore books that interest them. You'll often see students eagerly sharing favorite parts of a story, recommending books to friends, or even laughing out loud at something they've read. These moments show just how engaged and motivated they've become.\r\nSeveral students who were once hesitant readers are now among the most enthusiastic participants. One student who rarely picked up a book is now asking for extra reading time, while another proudly shares summaries of stories with the class.
