Many of my students learn best when they can see, hear, and actively participate in lessons, and this technology has helped make that possible every day. Students are able to practice important reading and math skills through educational programs that provide immediate feedback, individualized support, and opportunities to learn at their own pace. It has also helped increase student participation, confidence, and independence during small-group and center activities.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students has been the opportunity to use technology as a tool for creativity and exploration. They are eager to participate in lessons that include interactive activities, educational games, and digital learning platforms. The technology has transformed everyday lessons into experiences that feel fun, motivating, and meaningful. Students especially enjoy being able to track their own progress and celebrate their growth.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously hesitant to participate in class activities have especially benefited from this new technology. Some of my English Language Learners and students who need additional academic support have become more confident because the programs allow them to practice skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Students who struggled to stay focused during traditional instruction are now more actively engaged and excited to learn. Seeing their confidence grow and their enthusiasm for learning increase has been one of the most rewarding outcomes of this project.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and helping create a classroom environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1768970579707,"projectUrl":"project/motivated-minds-rewards-and-support-for/10013364/","projectTitle":"Motivated Minds: Rewards and Support for Hard-working 3rd-graders!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Marsh","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9355642"},{"teacherId":8673852,"projectId":10009161,"letterContent":"We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Nevada Department of Education for providing essential learning materials such as headphones, sharpeners, and markers for our students. Prior to this donation, our class was sharing headphones, meaning that not all students could use their chromebooks at the same time. We also appreciate the shoe holder, which we utilize to store our headphones in. Students know that once they are finished with their assigned chromebook time, they are to place their headphones in their assigned space. This has tremendously helped us in ensuring that headphones are not lost, and do not get damaged as a result of not having a proper space to store them. \r\n\r\nFurthermore, I have been able to use the iPad in a variety of ways since receiving it. I use it as a teaching manual as our teacher guide books are very heavy and have left me with shoulder pain in the past. Having the iPad allows me to walk around as I teach to ensure that students know that I am there, which also reduces behaviors. Additionally, I have used it for students to read from as I progress monitor them. This is extremely helpful because I no longer have to print the sheets out every week, which takes up a lot of paper, and teachers only get a limited amount of paper each semester. \r\n\r\nI have used the laminator to laminate the students' important notes for math, which has been greatly beneficial for them to use throughout the topic we are on. The students know to go back and refer to the notes. This is preparing them for later grades as well. It teaches them that they can use their resources first instead of immediately asking a partner or the teacher. \r\n\r\nFurthermore, the phonics stamps have been an incredible resource for my English language learners and students who are learning to sound out words and spell them. For my ELL students, this has been beneficial because they get to see the picture with the word on the stamp. They learn what the word is, and they learn how to spell it, which is extremely helpful for us. There are also different levels, which means that after students learn to spell 3-lettered words with the short vowel sounds, they can move on to long vowels with silent e, or vowel teams. The best part about this is that I can use these with students at different levels because there is something for most students. \r\n\r\nAll in all, these tools have been a great support to both myself and all of my students since we have received them. My students continuously show excitement while using our new tools as they know we did not have access to them the entire school year. They are most impacted and grateful for their headphones as these ones don't hurt their ears and keep them from getting distracted during independent work time. One moment that really stands out was during a recent project where students worked together to apply what they've learned in a collaborative setting. Instead of just reading or listening, they were actively building, experimenting, and solving problems together. I watched students who are usually hesitant step forward, share ideas, and take leadership roles. That shift alone has been incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the reaction was pure excitement. There were wide eyes, big smiles, and so many questions. The new resources are being used daily to enhance both academic instruction and social-emotional development, including the development of essential life skills such as personal hygiene.\r\n\r\nInitially, many of my students did not fully comprehend the importance or concept of daily hygiene routines. However, through consistent instruction, modeling, and the use of the provided materials, students are now demonstrating meaningful progress in both their understanding and application of these skills. Today, students are independently practicing daily hygiene routines and are more aware of how these habits contribute to their overall well-being, confidence, and readiness to learn.\r\n\r\nIn the classroom, these resources are integrated into both academic and functional skill-building activities. For example, during structured lessons and daily routines, students engage in discussions and hands-on practice related to hygiene, which has led to increased independence and self-awareness. One particularly meaningful moment was observing students remind one another about hygiene routines, showing not only understanding but also ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the students were first introduced to the new materials, their reactions were filled with excitement and curiosity. While some were initially unsure how to use the materials or understand their purpose, they quickly became engaged and eager to participate. Over time, their confidence has grown, and they now approach both academic and daily living tasks with greater independence.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue integrating these resources into our daily instruction to reinforce both academic and functional life skills. Our next steps include expanding on these routines by connecting hygiene practices to health, social interactions, and self-confidence, as well as incorporating more student-led activities to promote independence.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has made a meaningful and lasting impact in our classroom. I've already noticed students who used to struggle with staying engaged now choosing to sit in the cozy area and remain focused for longer periods. It has created a calm, positive reading environment that supports different learning styles and helps students build a stronger connection with reading.\r\nAt the same time, the classroom printer has had a meaningful impact on our daily learning. I am now able to quickly prepare and print tasks, hands-on activities, and differentiated materials that meet the diverse needs of my students. Whether during literacy centers, small group instruction, or targeted practice, students have immediate access to high-quality resources that support their learning. All of the students use their pouches to hold their whiteboard, markers, and sometimes even their headphones. At the end of the day, they put their pouches on their desks and it is used as a mailbox. I put all of the papers that need to go home in it and they know that those papers need to go in their backpack as soon as they enter the classroom. The students had the opportunity to write their name on the nametag of the pouch so they know which one is theirs. Each student had the opportunity to choose the color they liked and it was very exciting for them. \r\n\r\nFurthermore, the National Geographic books have been a big hit! The students take turns reading them and have even created a wait list for who gets which book next. We are currently writing reports on animals, and the students will have the opportunity to utilize these books in their report. One student has already talked to me about using the book about tigers to help him complete his report. I greatly appreciate the support in helping students be excited about reading. \r\n\r\nMoreover, the smelly stickers are incredible as a reward system for the students. If they finish their work early or get full points on an assignment, I am always sure to reward them with a smelly striker. They also work hard to ensure that their behavior is exactly what it needs to be to earn their smelly sticker. Students are quick to fix their behaviors and remind their peers to do the right thing. This has been a very effective and exciting way to reward students. \r\n\r\nThe whiteboards have also become a classroom favorite for our class. One way that students use their whiteboards is during independent math time. Instead of using paper, they use their whiteboards to help them solve a problem, erase, and start all over! They also use it during their brainbreaks when they want to draw sometimes, and they use it during writing to write down their draft, then copy it onto a paper. This helps them especially when they need to check the spelling of a word as it allows them to erase and quickly fix something, \r\n\r\nThe classroom clocks have also been a great resource to help us review and learn how to read a clock to prepare us for third grade. Each student has their own clock that they can use to help them read the clock. They often help each other tell when they will be going to specials, lunch, and when the school day will end. They are always excited to use their clocks and show others how to use them. \r\n\r\nI am greatly appreciative for everything you have donated to our class to help us succeed for the rest of the school year.
