Many of my students benefit from tools that provide visual supports, structure, and repetition—things that can be difficult to maintain consistently without technology. For example, students use tablets or computers for visual schedules, which help them understand their daily routines and transition more independently between activities.\r\n\r\nTechnology also supports communication. Some students use apps to express their needs, participate in class discussions, and interact with peers. This not only builds their academic skills but also strengthens their confidence and social connections.\r\n\r\nIn addition, technology allows for differentiated instruction. Educational programs can be adjusted to each student's level, providing immediate feedback and opportunities to practice skills at their own pace. This is especially helpful in reinforcing concepts in reading, math, and vocational tasks.\r\n\r\nWe also use technology to build real-world skills. Students may practice job-related tasks, follow step-by-step instructions, or learn how to use tools they will encounter in the workplace. Overall, technology helps create a more inclusive learning environment where students can actively participate, build independence, and develop skills that will support them beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1768536788446,"projectUrl":"project/technology-for-vocational-skills-beyond/10005625/","projectTitle":"Technology for Vocational Skills Beyond the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kessler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6754742_orig.jpg?crop=2448,2448,x587,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768280191492","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6754742"},{"teacherId":8547837,"projectId":10012040,"letterContent":"Having access to a new tablet has significantly improved the way I support students in my role as a school counselor. It allows me to quickly share digital forms, resources, and planning tools with students during meetings, making our time together more efficient and interactive. Instead of relying on printed handouts, I can provide students with immediate access to important documents such as academic plans, college resources, and check-in forms, ensuring they always have what they need in one accessible place.\r\n\r\nThe shift to digital content has also made a noticeable impact on reducing paper usage. By sending forms electronically and encouraging students to complete and store documents digitally, I am able to minimize printing while keeping everything organized and easy to retrieve. Students are more likely to engage with materials they can access on their own devices, and it allows for quicker updates or revisions without the need to reprint materials.\r\n\r\nOverall, the tablet has helped streamline communication and organization while promoting a more environmentally conscious approach. Providing students with digital copies rather than physical ones not only supports sustainability, but also aligns better with how students manage information today—making it easier for them to stay organized, revisit resources, and take greater ownership of their academic planning.","fullyFundedDate":1768923712087,"projectUrl":"project/digital-forms/10012040/","projectTitle":"Digital Forms","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Ferguson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8547837"},{"teacherId":4743301,"projectId":10012931,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous support in funding materials that have transformed communication in my classroom. Because of your contribution, my students now have structured opportunities to engage in meaningful peer-to-peer interactions that go far beyond surface-level discussion. The new resources have allowed us to implement consistent peer review practices, where students thoughtfully evaluate one another's research, provide constructive feedback, and refine their ideas through collaboration. This process has not only strengthened their academic writing and critical thinking skills, but also given them a clearer understanding of how to communicate effectively with others.\r\n\r\nIn addition, these materials have made brainstorming more dynamic and inclusive. Students are more willing to share ideas, build off one another's thinking, and take intellectual risks in a supportive environment. As a result, our classroom has evolved into a stronger learning community where every voice matters. Students are developing confidence in expressing their perspectives while also learning to listen and respond respectfully to their peers. With all the field trips and sports trips the students are taking in these last couple months it would be hard for them to catch up if not for the notes I'm able to write on the iPad and upload through Notability. Writing on the iPad provides a more personal experience for the students rather than watching notes from a Powerpoint presentation or a video.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping my provide equitable access to my resources to all my students. Since receiving these materials, my students have been using the easel paper and markers to collaborate on group projects analyzing primary sources and exploring key concepts in history and government. One standout moment came during a lesson on the Constitution, when student groups created visual breakdowns of different amendments and presented their thinking to the class. The ability to map out ideas together made their discussions deeper and more meaningful.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited and eager to get started. The simple addition of chart paper and markers immediately increased engagement, and students took pride in their work as they created and shared their ideas. It created a more interactive and inclusive classroom environment where every voice could be seen and heard.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using these resources for upcoming inquiry-based projects, including analyzing current events and connecting them to foundational civic principles. When students have access to a computer, they can jump right into their work, stay organized, and use different tools that keep them engaged. It also lets me mix things up with how I teach and give students more ways to practice and show what they know. Since more students now have a working device, we spend a lot less time dealing with tech issues and more time actually learning.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is honestly just having their own computer to use when they need it. Not having to wait, share, or miss out makes a big difference. They feel more independent and are more willing to participate and stay on task. One student in particular has really benefited—she wasn't able to get a district computer before, but now she can use one of the extras. She's been able to keep up with her work and feels a lot more confident being part of the class, which has been really great to see.","fullyFundedDate":1769177565831,"projectUrl":"project/resource-students/10014946/","projectTitle":"Resource Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. T","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10403145"},{"teacherId":9371847,"projectId":10017361,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom project. Because of your kindness, my students now have access to materials that bring math to life in meaningful and engaging ways.\r\n\r\nWith the expo markers and graphing lap boards, students can actively explore graphing transformations, testing their ideas and revising their work in real time. This immediate feedback builds confidence and encourages a growth mindset as they see that mistakes are part of learning. The patty paper has been especially valuable in helping students visualize transformations like reflections, rotations, and translations—concepts that can otherwise feel abstract.\r\n\r\nOur probability lessons have also been transformed. Using M&Ms and Skittles, along with calculators, students are collecting real data, calculating probabilities, and comparing theoretical and experimental results. These hands-on experiences make learning both fun and memorable, while deepening their understanding of key mathematical concepts.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these supplies have helped create a classroom environment where students feel excited to participate, collaborate, and take risks in their learning.\r\n\r\nYour support has made math more accessible, interactive, and enjoyable for every student.\r\n\r\nThank you for making a lasting impact on our classroom. With a professional microphone, the students are taken seriously and they end up with quality audio that viewers can easily understand.\r\n\r\nStudents will also do remotes from other parts of the school, and again, it looks and sounds professional for our program to have a real microphone that records audio well.\r\n\r\nStudents are taking their audio recordings and putting them into our editing software to sync with the video. With the supplies, students were able to use the yarn and templates to make their own butterflies that are proudly displayed on the wall. They may have initiated a small class competition. My Spanish 2 students were able to practice conjugating imperfect verbs by using the conjugation clouds. They loved the colorful paper and string and thought is was definitely more interesting than boring worksheets.
