One student even shared that sitting in the wobble chair helps them feel more awake and focused during lessons!\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the classroom was filled with excitement. Students could not wait to try the different seating options and were eager to discuss which seats felt most comfortable for reading, writing, and group work. Flexible seating has created a more positive and engaging learning environment, where students feel empowered and supported.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using the new seating during small group instruction, independent reading, and collaborative classroom projects. The students are becoming more aware of how movement and comfort can help them stay focused and productive throughout the day. I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support in providing resources for our students. The impact of your contributions, particularly the Squish Dudes, mood pencils, smelly erasers, and mindfulness bracelets, has been transformative in our classroom. From the very first encounter, the students were captivated by the Squish Dudes. These tools have become essential for helping them ground themselves in the present moment and maintain focus during their learning activities. Witnessing their engagement has been nothing short of inspiring.\r\n\r\nMoreover, the mood pencils and smelly erasers have proven to be excellent reinforcers for positive behavioral choices. The students have shown remarkable enthusiasm in earning these items, which has fostered a culture of mindfulness and self-awareness in our classroom. The mindfulness bracelets have also served as tangible reminders for the students to practice calmness and reflection. I've noticed a significant improvement in their ability to manage their emotions and stay on task, all thanks to these thoughtful resources.\r\n\r\nEqually impactful has been the food you provided. It has played a crucial role in serving as a preventative strategy, ensuring that students are not distracted by hunger during critical learning moments. The availability of snacks has been the most sought-after option, and it has become a vital resource in our classroom. By integrating this into our routine, I can reinforce alternative behaviors and proactively address potential setting events that may disrupt learning. Your support in this area has made a noticeable difference in our students' overall well-being and readiness to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your invaluable contributions. Your generosity has not only enriched our classroom environment but has also fostered a sense of community and care among our students. Instead of being limited to traditional desks, students now have the opportunity to choose seating that best supports their individual learning styles. Whether they are using a wobble stool, a cushioned chair, or a more relaxed space, students are able to find positions that help them stay focused and comfortable. During independent reading time, I have noticed that students are reading for longer periods and are more engaged with their texts. Similarly, during essay writing, students are better able to concentrate, organize their ideas, and stay focused throughout the writing process.\r\n\r\nWhen the flexible seating was first introduced, the excitement in the classroom was immediate. Students were eager to try out the different options and quickly began identifying which seating worked best for them. This created a sense of ownership and responsibility, as students understood these materials were meant to support their learning. Many shared that the classroom felt more welcoming and \"like home,\" which has helped build a positive and supportive learning environment. This sense of comfort has been especially important during longer tasks like reading assignments and essay writing, where stamina and focus are essential.\r\n\r\nWe use the flexible seating daily during activities such as silent reading, peer editing, and drafting essays. One memorable moment was during a recent essay assignment when a student who typically struggles to stay on task chose a seating option that helped them remain calm and focused. That student was able to complete their draft with minimal redirection, showing clear improvement in both effort and writing quality. Moments like this highlight how important it is to provide students with an environment that meets their diverse needs.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue to use flexible seating to support student choice and independence as we work on future reading and writing projects. My goal is to help students better understand how they learn best and apply those strategies to tasks like analyzing texts and writing structured essays. Thanks to your generosity, my students now have a classroom environment that promotes comfort, engagement, and a stronger connection to their learning. Your support has made a lasting impact.","fullyFundedDate":1768429684857,"projectUrl":"project/sit-learn-thrive-flexible-seating-for/10004878/","projectTitle":"Sit, Learn, Thrive: Flexible Seating for Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Marquez-Doak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10401222"},{"teacherId":4259988,"projectId":10012293,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, my students were able to participate in their very first dissection lab—an experience many of them had never imagined they would have in middle school!\r\n\r\nWe began by reviewing lab safety and proper dissection procedures, helping students understand the importance of respect, responsibility, and careful scientific practice. Students then explored the anatomy of an earthworm, learning about its structures and how each part functions. With the new materials, they were able to actively participate in a real dissection, while others observed closely and engaged in meaningful discussions about what they were seeing.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, there was a mix of excitement, curiosity, and a little nervousness—but that quickly turned into genuine engagement. Many students who are typically quiet were asking questions, making observations, and fully involved in the learning process. It was one of those moments where you could truly see curiosity come alive.\r\n\r\nThis is just the beginning!
