The books in my classroom will be used in many ways. A lot of the books go with the units that I teach according to the curriculum we use. There also decodable books that I can use to go with the skills that have been taught. \r\n\r\nI will use the books that go with our units for students to learn parts of a book (spine, front cover, back cover, etc.). These books also will provide more knowledge, vocabulary, and fun to my students. Read alouds also provide a sense of community to the classroom. \r\n\r\nThe decodables will allow students to practice their reading skills in a variety of books. We usually have 1 for the whole unit so this will add different reading experiences for them. They were eager to explore everything, especially the writing pads and books for read-aloud time. It created pride, joy, and motivation in our classroom. In my class, we use magnetic letters, CVC picture magnets, sound-out cards, Elkonin boxes, white boards, and reading books to build early literacy skills. These tools help students sound out words, blend letters, and practice writing. They have an entire \"Knowledge\" bookshelf now that they are able to access. I keep all the domain read alouds readily available, and they have loved it! \r\n\r\nMy students have also loved being able to use the reading manipulatives that I received in my project. Their new favorite thing to use in small group are the finger highlighters; they think it is so fun to track their reading with these!
