Our school is filled with tiny sensory seekers as well as sensory avoiders. Both have their own unique needs, and both need us to help them throughout the school day. This project focuses on creating sensory reset areas in our school so all teachers will have access to a safe, reset zone and materials throughout the day!
It is important that we allow students in early childhood classrooms to have outlet when needed throughout the day to refocus when needed due to anxiety, emotions, or sensory needs. As teachers, we accommodate each child inside our room, but often a child may need to step away with an adult to reset outside of our classrooms.
All items will go into sensory calm areas as well as be available for our special needs students to use inside our general education classrooms. The floor rocking chairs and inflatable peapod will provide sensory input as well as a relaxing moment for any child who needs to calm and reset. The Supernova Color Changing Sphere and the light projector will provide a visual calm distraction for our students. Chews, chair fidgets and hand fidgets, and wiggle seats are often needed when our students are anxious inside a gen ed setting or needed to to oral motor seeking. Finally, the timers and sensory ooze tubes are including to give students a visual ending time so they can happily join their class again!
This project is such an important whole school goal for us! We appreciate any support you can give!
