My students and I are excited to do the Sadako and the 1000 Paper Cranes project. We already started reading the book! For many years, I've read Sadako's story with my students and we've tried to fold 1000 paper cranes but never succeeded. Last year, I challenged every students to learn how to fold the paper crane and fold the 1000 paper cranes. And we did! We were successful of folding 1000+ paper cranes and shipped them to Hiroshima's Peace Children's Museum. \r\n\r\nThis year, I am plan to motivate every students to learn how to fold the crane and fold 1000 of them. The rewards motivate students and reinforce good choices, showing that we notice and value effort, kindness, responsibility, and positive behavior. I've seen my students become more engaged, confident, and eager to learn. \r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding moments has been watching students proudly receive recognition for making positive choices and seeing how excited they are to select an incentive from the treasure box. The t-shirt printer machine gave my students a new way to turn their ideas into something they could actually see, touch, and share. This experience helped build confidence while encouraging creativity, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration.\r\n\r\nThe funding made a meaningful difference because it provided access to a piece of equipment that we would not otherwise have had in our classroom. Instead of simply talking about design and creativity, I was able to provide students with an authentic learning experience where they could create something of their own. Their faces lit up as they discovered changes and proudly shared their observations with friends. What began as a simple planting activity quickly became an experience filled with questions, excitement, and discovery.\r\n\r\nThe impact went far beyond watching plants grow. Students practiced predicting, observing, measuring, sketching, and recording their findings while developing a deeper understanding of how plants grow and what they need to survive. They learned to be patient, responsible, and curious, and many students began seeing themselves as young scientists. The funding allowed our students to learn through discovery and experience the joy of making their own scientific observations. Students learned patience and gentleness as they observed the cycle of the butterflies.
