Thanks to your kindness, our students now have access to a Yoto Mini Player, a collection of engaging picture books, and matching read-aloud cards that have allowed us to create a meaningful and interactive listening center within our classroom.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has provided our young learners with far more than new materials; it has created opportunities for exploration, independence, and the development of essential early literacy skills that will support them throughout their educational journey.\r\n\r\nIn early childhood, listening is one of the most important foundational skills children develop. Through listening experiences, children learn to attend to information, follow directions, build vocabulary, and make connections between spoken language and meaning. The listening center you helped create offers our preschoolers an engaging way to practice these skills while fostering a love of books and storytelling.\r\n\r\nThe Yoto Mini Player has already become a favorite part of our classroom routine. Our students are excited to independently select stories using the matching read-aloud cards, giving them ownership over their learning experiences. This independence not only builds confidence but also encourages positive associations with books and literacy from an early age.\r\n\r\nThe picture books and audio stories you provided also play an important role in strengthening phonological awareness skills. Phonological awareness—the ability to recognize and manipulate the sounds in spoken language—is a critical predictor of later reading success. As children listen to stories, rhymes, repetitive phrases, songs, and playful language, they begin to notice sounds within words, identify rhyming patterns, hear syllables, and develop an understanding of how spoken language works. These skills form the foundation for future reading and writing development.\r\n\r\nIn addition to supporting phonological awareness, our listening center promotes important concepts of print and book-handling skills. Before children learn to read independently, they first develop an understanding of how books work. Through repeated exposure to high-quality picture books, students learn that print carries meaning, that books are read from front to back, and that pages turn in a specific order. They become familiar with identifying the front cover, title, author, and illustrations. These seemingly simple experiences are essential building blocks in the journey toward literacy.\r\n\r\nFor our preschool students, many of whom have diverse learning needs and developmental profiles, having multiple ways to access stories is invaluable. The combination of audio support and visual text allows all children to engage with literature in a way that is meaningful and accessible to them. It creates an inclusive environment where every child can experience the joy of stories, develop critical language skills, and participate in literacy experiences with their peers.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is helping us nurture curious listeners, enthusiastic storytellers, and future readers. The impact of your donation extends far beyond the materials themselves; you are helping to build the foundational skills that children need to become successful, confident learners.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in the importance of early childhood education and for investing in the growth and potential of our students. We are incredibly grateful for your support and the opportunities you have provided for our classroom community. Every time a child excitedly chooses a story, carefully turns the pages of a book, or proudly recognizes a rhyme or familiar sound, we are reminded of the difference your generosity has made.","fullyFundedDate":1771789369080,"projectUrl":"project/listen-learn-and-love-to-read/9878604/","projectTitle":"Listen, Learn and Love to Read","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Riley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8800389_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y77&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1666211456354","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ashley-riley"},{"teacherId":3214568,"projectId":9873578,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity.
