Your support has made a meaningful difference in our school, and I'm excited to share the wonderful impact these new resources are already having on my students.\r\n\r\nWe began using the kindness cards and Emotion Friends immediately, and they have quickly become essential tools in both our small-group sessions and classroom SEL lessons. Because October is Bullying Awareness Month, these resources arrived at the perfect time. In one small group, a student selected a kindness card that encouraged them to \"write a reminder of something you are good at and place it somewhere you will see every day.\" This simple prompt created a thoughtful conversation about self-kindness and positive self-talk—an important reminder for all of us.\r\n\r\nThe homeroom teacher also incorporated the cards into whole-class SEL lessons. Each day, the class drew a card together, brainstormed ways to put the message into action, and encouraged one another to try them out. At the end of the month, every student wrote down one way they could show kindness on an orange slip of paper. These slips were connected to create a long and meaningful Kindness Chain—a visual reminder of the positive actions they can take in our school community.\r\n\r\nThe Emotion Friends have been equally impactful. Students love \"checking in\" with them at the beginning and end of our small-group sessions. They enjoy selecting the character that reflects how they're feeling and later sharing which coping strategies helped them move from their first chosen emotion to their ending one. This routine has sparked deeper reflection and has helped students recognize the strategies that best support their emotional well-being.\r\n\r\nNext, we plan to continue building on these lessons by teaching students how to apply these skills beyond the classroom—during peer interactions, challenging moments, and throughout their school day. The kindness cards and emotion tools will remain part of our regular SEL routines as students learn to communicate their feelings, support one another, and strengthen their coping strategies.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given my students an opportunity to grow not just academically, but socially and emotionally. Thank you for giving them the tools to better understand themselves and the world around them. The change was immediate and visible—no more waiting for supplies to be passed around, no more frustration when a crayon box runs out mid-project. Our students walk into the classroom each morning and confidently grab their materials, ready to dive into their work. This simple access has transformed our daily routine, allowing us to spend more time learning and less time managing resources.\r\nThe impact on their learning has been remarkable. Students who were hesitant to write are now eagerly practicing their letters and names, knowing they can erase and try again without judgment. During art time, the classroom buzzes with creativity as kids experiment with color combinations and share their work with pride. We've seen significant growth in fine motor skills as students use their pencils daily for writing, tracing, and drawing. Even more importantly, we've watched their confidence soar—they're taking risks, making mistakes, and trying again because they have the tools they need to succeed.\r\nYour support has given our kindergarteners something invaluable: the message that they matter and that their education is worth investing in. These supplies will carry them through the entire school year, supporting countless learning moments, creative projects, and developmental milestones. The excitement on their faces when they first saw the bags of soil, jars, gravel, and little plants was priceless. Many of my students had never planted anything before, so the idea of building their very own mini terrarium was both thrilling and new. They eagerly rolled up their sleeves, touched the soil with their hands, and carefully layered their jars, each one unique, just like them.\r\n\r\nSince completing their terrariums, my students have taken great pride in caring for their plants. Every morning, they share updates like, \"Mine is growing taller!\" or \"I moved mine to a sunny window and it loves it there!\" It has sparked daily conversations about plant care, sunlight, and water cycles, concepts that are now meaningful because they can see them happening right before their eyes. Many have even brought in pictures to show how their terrariums look at home and how proud their parents are.\r\n\r\nThis project has inspired curiosity, responsibility, and a deeper connection to nature. It's amazing to watch my students develop a sense of ownership and environmental awareness through something they built themselves. Next, we plan to connect this experience to lessons on ecosystems and sustainability—showing students how even a small \"world in a jar\" can teach big lessons about caring for our planet.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in my students and making hands-on learning possible.
