Lastly our youngest students learned about the importance of Laulima and decorated their individual kites (hoʻolupe) and flew thei kites during our event. \r\nThis event, which spanned the entire day helps students and teachers to get outside, support each other and encourage friendly competition. Students in the upper grades used their skills to compete against each other in three events. These resources are already fostering increased confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love of reading among our students.\r\n\r\nThe addition of positive reinforcement tools and classroom incentives for our class store has also brought renewed energy and motivation into our room. With our enhanced classroom economy system, students are not only celebrated for their academic and behavioral efforts, but are also learning critical real-world math and financial literacy skills while having fun doing it!\r\n\r\nYour support also made it possible to enhance our classroom's positive reinforcement system and class store. Through this classroom economy, students are recognized for their academic effort, positive behaviors, and demonstration of our school's General Learner Outcomes (GLOs) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Matrix expectations. As students earn and manage classroom currency, they are simultaneously developing essential understanding of Common Core math standards and financial literacy skills, including counting money, making change, saving, budgeting, understanding the difference between needs and wants, delayed gratification, and responsible spending.\r\n\r\nOur class includes students from a wide range of learning backgrounds, including students receiving special education (SPED) services, English learners (EL), and readers at varying levels of proficiency. These materials have made an immediate and meaningful impact by providing equitable access to learning, motivation, and opportunities for success.\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful for your generosity and belief in our students. These items have become a valuable part of our learning environment, helping students regulate their energy and attention throughout the day.\r\n\r\nWe've already begun incorporating the sensory seating into our lessons, particularly during small-group reading and math rotations. For example, during a recent math project on measuring and comparing lengths, students used the new seating stations to collaborate in flexible groups while remaining calm and engaged. Our next steps include integrating the sensory seating into guided reading sessions, allowing students to choose the seating that helps them focus best as they build comprehension and fluency skills.
