He fidgeted with the sensory tools, read some of the posters, and at the end of his 5 minute timer was back at his desk ready to start his day.\r\n\r\nI've had others students use it when they're upset, angry, or even when they just can't seem to calm down their physical movements. They help students connect with peers they might not normally interact with, creating a more supportive and inclusive classroom environment.\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were so excited as many of the games are games they've never seen or played before. Their excitement came not just from receiving new games, but from the chance to share experiences, sit together, and enjoy positive social interactions. The games immediately encouraged cooperation and helped students feel more comfortable and confident engaging with one another.\r\nMoving forward, we are integrating the games into our social-emotional lessons to help students practice skills such as self-control, managing frustration, problem-solving, and encouraging others. I had everyone sit down and I shared how our class was able to get these wonderful new games. I explained how someone like you cared enough to provide resources that didn't involve any screens or fancy technology, but instead we get to use our hands and interact with each other face-to-face during our FUN Fridays and well-earned free time.\r\nMy students would have loved to say thank you in-person or play a game of Guess Who, Connect Four, or Battleship with you, but they were more than happy to write their own thank you notes, too. Although we cannot share close-up photographs of student faces, please imagine the widest, brightest smiles that spread all the way to their eyes as they got to challenge each other to another round or when the most shy kid in the class got animated because she won a game of Battleship. It's probably the most agreeable they have been in play. The animals and all the ways to care for each pet keeps them busy beyond belief. I'm so excited for this and keep getting comments from other colleagues about how creative it is and \"very cute\". I agree that it's cute, but care more about their language development and learning in the dramatic play area. Each student puts on the Dr uniform and gets to work! It's great to see underprivileged children acting out a career where they might not otherwise see themselves, except that it is given to them and they are shown how to use the tools in the play center. The other day, a little girl (who is the \"expert\" vet because she loves it so much and just sort of bosses the other vets around :)) asked me what the brush is used for. I showed her how a Veterinarian will groom an animal if need be. She smiled from ear to ear and got right to work. \r\n\r\nThis donation changes our community and the way children see themselves in society. It's much more than play to them.
