This was by far our favorite book all year and they were thrilled to receive these as a special memento of our year. We did lots of activities with these books and I have included photos of students engaged in these activities. \r\n\r\nPutting books in the hands of low-income students like the ones in my class enhance their reading skills. They are able to spend more time with a book at home. Family members can read the story to them. Many of our students do not have a large collection of books at home and being able to provide books to them is so important to nurture a love of reading.\r\n\r\nWe used this story to practice rhyming, colors and sequencing. Our students created masks of the different animals and we took turns acting out the story. We made story crowns where students sequenced the characters. I also noticed that several kids haven't tried any of the snacks so I love how excited they were to taste new foods!\r\n\r\nThe pencils and sharpener are everyday necessities in our classroom!
