It was less of a quiet reveal and more of a joyful rush. They immediately took their shoes off (just like I insist at home to keep it clean) and started gingerly feeling the softness. The most common reaction was, \"Wait, we get to keep our shoes off and learn about rocks? This is the best day ever!\" It signals to them that our classroom is a comfortable, safe space where learning can happen anywhere, not just at a desk.\r\n \r\nThe rugs didn't just add color; they carved out dedicated, comfortable learning zones. Our whole-class science lessons, especially, have been elevated. Previously, we could not sit on the cold floor. Now, the rugs are the official Science Reading Lounge and Collaboration Hub.\r\n\r\nWe are currently studying Earth's Resources in science. Instead of feeling like a chore, the students are now eager to grab their textbooks and settle onto the soft rug. This goes to show that comfort truly fosters learning!\r\n\r\nThe next step is taking these comfortable spaces into our math block. We are starting a a project that requires a lot of hands-on work with manipulatives. We will be using the smaller rug as the official \"Think Tank.\" Working in a circle on the rug will allow students to easily share blocks, discuss spatial reasoning, and solve problems collaboratively—without the barrier of desks.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my budding scientists, mathematicians, and historians, thank you so much. You didn't just donate rugs; you donated focus, comfort, and a dedicated space for curiosity in our classroom. We are genuinely grateful for your generous support!","fullyFundedDate":1757551076950,"projectUrl":"project/rug-time/9527396/","projectTitle":"Rug Time!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Milton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6537944"},{"teacherId":9651669,"projectId":8665759,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous contribution, my students now have access to a set of vibrant, informative math anchor charts that have made a world of difference in our classroom. These charts serve as essential visual aids, providing students with quick references for solving problems and understanding complex math concepts. Whether it's multiplication strategies, fraction comparison, or word problem-solving steps, the anchor charts are always within reach to guide students through each challenge. One specific classroom moment that stands out is when my students were working on multi-step word problems. With the anchor charts nearby, they felt more confident, referring to the charts to remind themselves of the strategies they had learned. The sense of empowerment was clear on their faces as they solved problems independently, knowing that these resources were there to support them.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the anchor charts, their reactions were full of excitement and curiosity. They immediately began asking questions about how they could use each chart to solve their current math problems. Some students even started creating their own mini anchor charts based on the class examples, reinforcing the learning for themselves and their peers. It was incredible to see them take ownership of their learning in such an active way, all thanks to the resources you provided.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to continue integrating the anchor charts into our lessons, using them to guide deeper problem-solving and collaborative learning in small groups. The charts will also be pivotal as we move into more advanced topics, like geometry and algebra. With your support, my students now have the tools they need to continue growing as confident math learners, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes them.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible!","fullyFundedDate":1734034564248,"projectUrl":"project/sharpening-our-math-minds-with-new-suppl/8665759/","projectTitle":"Sharpening Our Math Minds With New Supplies!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Balaj","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9651669_orig.jpg?crop=933,933,x25,y507&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756861202948","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9651669"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45779","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":383,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":67,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":55,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":40.8,"schoolId":45779,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dr H W Mack-W Little River K-8 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dr H W Mack-W Little River K-8","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/dr-h-w-mack-w-little-river-elementary-school/45779"}
