Incorporating a laptop into our lessons along with traditional methods of instruction would be engaging and as well as beneficial for my students who do not always have access to these kinds of technology. My classroom needs an efficient and reliable laptop with mobile capabilities throughout the room. As my students engage in group projects, a laptop would be beneficial to bring around the room as they often work in groups throughout the classroom. The limited number of computers also occasionally puts a hold on their projects at hand. District computers are not always reliable. The computers tend to be slow and have limited capabilities. I personally enjoy making student projects that incorporate pictures of my students. I like to provide the parents with pictures of their children and their activities at school. Organizing and sharing photos allows the parents to be more connected with what their students are doing at school, and newer updated computers have capabilities specially catered to these tasks. As technology and the digital world advances, the technology in schools should too. Students should be adaptable to this ever changing technology as children are our future! We cannot limit our students' creativity with outdated resources. They would greatly benefit from being exposed to and becoming experienced with laptop computers as they do not typically get this exposure at home, and these are the kind of devices they will be expected to be familiar with in their future studies. I have discovered lesson plans in which students are able to record and document themselves, and having a computer with a webcam would be essential for these lessons. These projects would allow them to have their foot in the door for when they move on to high school and college where these types of projects are required.
