These books will help students feel excited about learning and show them that reading can be enjoyable and useful in many parts of their lives.\r\nThe Spanish workbooks will help students grow their vocabulary, understand what they read, and feel more confident, especially for bilingual and emerging bilingual learners. The piano books will teach students how to read music, follow directions, and practice step by step. These are skills that also help them become better readers in the classroom. When students connect music and reading, they build stronger skills while also getting to be creative and express themselves.\r\nThis project also helps create a clean and safe space for learning. Students often sit on the floor to practice at keyboards and reading stations, so having a broom and dustpan will help keep the area clean and protect the books. A clean space helps students stay focused and take care of their materials. For many students, these books will be one of their main chances to use and enjoy printed materials. The fidgets, squishy balls and stretchy toys have been very popular with all classes and students of all levels. They are also using them to keep their students focused when working and have introduced some of the squeezable toys as an alternative option to inappropriate or negative behaviors that we are trying to decrease.\r\n The headphones and chewy necklaces have been very useful for some of our younger students who are new to our program. We are still learning the best strategies to keep them attentive, engaged and calm. We have been able to incorporate the use of the materials in their IEPs and behavior support plans. It has been incredible watching our students grow in the best ways and learn how to self-advocate for their needs and wants.
