These are key concepts we connect to during our Lord of the Flies literary unit, and it was incredible to see them immersed in the process of planning, research, and creation. When students are proud of their product and it's displayed beautifully, it invites them to cheer each other on and validate their successes.\r\n\r\nStorage containers have made a surprising difference. Supplies stay organized and within easy reach, so we spend less time searching for materials and more time learning. With fresh printer ink, I can print colorful handouts and students' standardized test scores in color, which makes their skills and results easy to read at a glance. Notebooks will serve as our journals and notes all year, and I've set a few aside for students who transfer in late or need extra support. Having access to an iMac made this transition not just manageable, but genuinely productive and inspiring.\r\n\r\nBeyond the practical benefits of screen size and processing power, the iMac opened up a world of creative possibility. Using built-in apps and creative software, I was able to redesign my lessons to be more engaging for a virtual environment. Instead of simply recreating my in-person lessons as static worksheets, I used the iMac to build interactive slideshows, record instructional videos, and design multimedia projects that brought my curriculum to life on screen. Now, every student—regardless of their personal resources—has the same high-caliber tools on their desk as their peers. This shift has not only boosted student morale but has also fostered a collaborative environment where every learner can participate fully in rigorous, state-mandated explorations without the logistical burden of sharing or borrowing devices.\r\n\r\nStudents have reported less stress around showing their work because they can use their calculators to do the more tedious steps and they can focus on the higher level processes.
