I have a Yes Let's approach to learning--and especially reading--in my class. This year I have two academic management goals in mind. First, give the phones a safe place to park during class time. Sometimes phones can be used to research interesting facts, but mostly they can offer a great distraction to instruction and learning. Many times the phone is discretely hiding in a student's book when they should be reading. By having a place to park those phones on their desk--in clear view of the teacher and student--I hope to eliminate some of that distraction. Second, I want to gradually build a relatable and comprehensive classroom library. I realize this will take time, but every book counts!
