One moment that stood out was hearing students start correcting sentences out loud during class discussions because they were recognizing the grammar skills we had practiced together.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were excited and curious to look through the pages. Many students immediately wanted to try the activities and were excited to work on skills that made them feel more successful during writing.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are continuing to use the materials to strengthen grammar and vocabulary during reading and writing lessons. Our next steps are helping students apply these skills more independently in their everyday writing and class discussions. Having these lovely, \"beyond budget\" items in our classroom has been exciting. Yesterday we researched simple pinch pots to make. We needed our clay, formed a pot, and repaired the cracks. The students giggled, helped each other, and shared dreams of what they would make next. Everyone went home with a smile.\r\n\r\nCreating should be a subject in school. It leads to smiles and hope.
