The pencil cases and new pencil sharpener may seem like simple tools, but they have made a powerful difference in organization, responsibility, and readiness to learn.\r\n\r\nStudents now use their pencil cases every day to store essential supplies such as pencils, erasers, and highlighters. This has reduced the amount of time spent searching for materials and increased time on task. One specific moment that stood out was during a writing lesson when students were drafting personal narratives. In the past, students frequently interrupted instruction to borrow supplies or sharpen pencils. With the new pencil cases and sharpener, students were able to independently manage their materials, stay focused, and remain engaged in the writing process from start to finish.\r\n\r\nWhen students first received their new supplies, their excitement was immediate and genuine. Many proudly organized their pencil cases and commented on how \"official\" they felt having their own set of tools. The new pencil sharpener was especially popular, and students were eager to use it. There was a noticeable sense of ownership and pride, which set a positive tone for learning.\r\n\r\nBy supporting this project, you were given a glimpse into how small resources can create big change. The next steps for students include using these tools during longer writing projects, math problem-solving, and independent work, helping them continue to build independence, organization, and confidence throughout the year.","fullyFundedDate":1765143538088,"projectUrl":"project/sharp-minds-neat-tools-kits-for-class/9508748/","projectTitle":"\"Sharp Minds, Neat Tools: Kits for Classroom Success\"","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Manibusan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1341883_orig.jpg?crop=2219,2219,x61,y696&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673490296084","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1341883"},{"teacherId":1341883,"projectId":9824139,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, Bringing Ideas to Life: Upgrading Our 3D Printing Experience has transformed how students learn, create, and problem-solve in our classroom. While many donors use technology at home, 3D printing in school is used as a hands-on learning tool that connects directly to math, science, engineering, and design thinking. Students use the printer to turn abstract ideas into tangible objects, reinforcing concepts like measurement, geometry, spatial reasoning, and iteration through trial and error. Seeing a digital design become a real object helps students deeply understand how ideas move from planning to production.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the new 3D printing upgrades is the ability to design and create something that is truly their own. Students are highly motivated by watching the printer work layer by layer, knowing their thinking is coming to life. They take pride in revising designs, fixing mistakes, and improving their work.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially warmed to this technology, including those who struggle with traditional paper-and-pencil tasks. Creative, hands-on learners and students who enjoy problem-solving have found a new way to shine. This project has not only enhanced how students access academic content, but it has also given me, as the teacher, a powerful way to communicate more effectively with students who speak another language. The technology has helped bridge communication gaps, ensuring that all students feel included, supported, and capable of success in the classroom.\r\n\r\nMany donors are familiar with using technology at home for entertainment, communication, or basic tasks. In the classroom, however, this technology is intentionally used as a learning tool. The resources from this project allow students to hear clear language models, repeat directions, and engage with vocabulary and academic language in meaningful ways. Students can listen to lessons, instructions, and key vocabulary multiple times, which is essential for language development. This has reduced confusion and frustration, especially for English learners who may need extra processing time. For me as the teacher, the technology has provided an additional way to communicate concepts and expectations clearly, even when language barriers exist.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects of the new product for students is the independence it offers. Students no longer feel anxious about asking for repeated explanations or worrying that they misunderstood directions. They know they can rely on the technology to support their learning. Many students become visibly more confident when they realize they can pause, replay, and practice language at their own pace. Learning feels safer and more engaging because students are empowered to take control of their understanding.\r\n\r\nA particularly memorable classroom moment occurred during a listening and speaking lesson focused on academic vocabulary. Students used the technology to hear sentence frames and modeled responses before practicing on their own. Several students who are usually very quiet and hesitant to speak used this opportunity to rehearse privately. When it was time to share, these students participated with confidence and pride. That moment highlighted how the technology created a bridge between understanding and expression, allowing students to find their voice.\r\n\r\nThere are several students who have especially warmed to this new technology. One student who recently entered our classroom with very limited English often struggled to follow lessons and communicate needs. With this technology, the student can listen to translated supports, visual cues, and repeated language models, making daily routines and academic tasks more accessible. Over time, this student has become more engaged, more willing to participate, and more confident in attempting to speak English. Another student who previously shut down when confused now uses the technology as a tool rather than withdrawing. These students feel supported without feeling singled out, as the technology is used by the entire class.\r\n\r\nBeyond academic benefits, this project has strengthened relationships and communication within the classroom. It has given me the opportunity to better understand my students and ensure they understand me. Clear communication has led to improved behavior, stronger engagement, and a more inclusive learning environment. Students feel seen, heard, and valued, regardless of their language background.\r\n\r\nBy supporting Hear We Grow: Empowering Language Learners, you have helped create a classroom where language is no longer a barrier to learning. You gave students confidence, access, and opportunity, and you gave the teacher a meaningful way to communicate with students of another language. Thank you for investing in our students and for helping them grow, learn, and succeed every day.","fullyFundedDate":1760198632137,"projectUrl":"project/hear-we-grow-empowering-language-learne/9799585/","projectTitle":"Hear We Grow: Empowering Language Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Manibusan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1341883_orig.jpg?crop=2219,2219,x61,y696&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673490296084","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1341883"},{"teacherId":1341883,"projectId":9286978,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, Empowering Learners: Creating a Focused and Organized Classroom for Success has made a meaningful difference in how my students learn and engage each day. One specific moment that stood out was during a math practice session on multi-step word problems. A student who is easily distracted and often compares their work to others used the privacy folder and immediately became more focused. Without visual distractions or worrying about others' progress, the student worked steadily, completed the task, and even double-checked their answers. The folders have helped students take ownership of their learning and feel comfortable working at their own pace.\r\n\r\nWhen students first received the privacy folders, their reactions were overwhelmingly positive. Many were excited and asked if they could use them right away. Several students shared that the folders helped them \"think better\" or feel less nervous about making mistakes. They quickly understood that the folders were not about hiding work, but about creating a personal space to concentrate and do their best.\r\n\r\nBy supporting this project, you were given a glimpse into our classroom and how we prioritize student success. Grounded in Peace: Creating a Calming Corner for Every Child has given my students a space—and permission—to pause, reflect, and regulate their emotions so they can fully engage in learning. The resources you provided are now an essential part of our daily routine and have already made a meaningful impact on both individual students and our classroom community as a whole.\r\nWe use the calming corner intentionally and consistently. Students are taught that this space is not a \"time out,\" but a tool. When a student feels overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, or simply needs a moment to reset, they may independently choose to use the calming corner. Inside, they find soft seating, sensory tools, calming visuals, breathing prompts, and reflection cards. One powerful moment occurred during a challenging math lesson involving multi-step fraction problems. A student who often shuts down when tasks feel difficult began to feel frustrated and teary. Instead of disengaging completely, he quietly walked to the calming corner, used a breathing card, squeezed a sensory tool, and after a few minutes returned to his seat. He later raised his hand to ask a clarifying question—something he rarely does when upset. That small moment represented a huge step in self-regulation and confidence.\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reaction was pure excitement and curiosity. Their eyes lit up as they explored the textures, colors, and tools. Many asked thoughtful questions like, \"When can we use this?\" and \"Can this help when I feel nervous?\" Several students shared personal connections, explaining how they sometimes feel overwhelmed at school or have trouble calming down when they are frustrated. From the very beginning, students understood that this space was created for them, and that their emotions matter. The calming corner quickly became a symbol of safety and care, reinforcing that our classroom values emotional well-being just as much as academic growth.\r\nYour donation also allowed us to have meaningful conversations about emotions, coping strategies, and empathy. We've incorporated mini-lessons on identifying feelings, practicing deep breathing, and reflecting on what helps us calm down. Students are now more open about expressing how they feel and more respectful of one another's needs. I've noticed peers encouraging each other to take a break or use a calming strategy rather than escalating conflicts. This shift has helped foster a more peaceful, supportive learning environment.\r\nBy contributing to this project, you've been invited into our classroom in a very personal way. You've helped create a space where students feel seen, supported, and empowered to take control of their emotions. That sense of emotional safety has translated into increased focus, improved behavior, and stronger peer relationships.\r\nThe next steps for our students involve building on this foundation of emotional regulation as we continue with academic challenges. Currently, we are working on collaborative problem-solving tasks and extended writing projects that require persistence and teamwork. Students are learning to recognize when they need a break, use the calming corner responsibly, and then return ready to learn. We are also beginning goal-setting reflections, in which students identify strategies to help them stay calm and focused during difficult tasks. These skills will support them not only in our classroom, but throughout their academic journey and beyond.\r\nThank you for believing in the importance of social-emotional learning and for investing in the whole child. Your support has truly helped ground our students in peace, giving them tools they will carry with them long after this school year ends.","fullyFundedDate":1746786028171,"projectUrl":"project/grounded-in-peace-creating-a-calming-co/9286909/","projectTitle":"Grounded in Peace: Creating a Calming Corner for Every Child","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Manibusan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1341883_orig.jpg?crop=2219,2219,x61,y696&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673490296084","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1341883"},{"teacherId":8931390,"projectId":9904575,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support in helping us purchase interactive picture books for storytime at the Cabrillo Avenue Elementary School Library.
