Students are training in proper shoes and kneepads, which means less hesitation and more actual learning. Before, kids were slipping and holding back during drills — now they're moving with confidence and picking up technique way faster. It's amazing what the right equipment can unlock.\r\nThey were genuinely excited, especially about the shoes. There's something about having real gear that makes students feel like real athletes. Our female wrestlers were especially grateful for the sports bras and socks — the little things that are easy to overlook but mean a lot when you're the one trying to train and compete. You could just see everyone stand a little taller.\r\nWe're zeroing in on fundamentals — stance, movement, takedowns, mat awareness — so every athlete has a solid base to build from. The bigger goal is getting students competition-ready and building a program that Camelback can be proud of for years to come. Beyond the sport, we're building team culture: accountability, resilience, showing up for each other. These kids are building something real.","fullyFundedDate":1767211213768,"projectUrl":"project/mat-to-mission-restarting-our-wrestling/9930977/","projectTitle":"Mat to Mission: Restarting Our Wrestling Program","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dumar","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7179562_orig.png?crop=635,635,x41,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733028146598","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msdumar"},{"teacherId":7179562,"projectId":9815360,"letterContent":"Advisory has taken on a whole new life since our clay supplies arrived. Students who usually just sit and wait for the period to end are now coming in ready to create. One of our first sessions had students experimenting with the rollers and cutters to make small keychains and charms — simple projects, but ones that got kids talking and laughing together who don't usually interact much. What stood out most was just how focused everyone was. For a high school advisory period, that kind of calm, productive energy is honestly hard to come by. When I laid everything out for the first time — the colorful clay sets, the sculpting tools, the rollers and cutters — students were picking things up before I even finished explaining. There were a lot of \"wait, we actually get to do this?\" reactions, which honestly made my day. For many of them it was their first time working with polymer clay, and you could just see the curiosity kick in. Even some of my quieter students jumped right in once they realized there were no wrong answers — just making.\r\n\r\nWe're heading into a free choice phase now, where students get to design and create whatever they want. Some are already talking about making earrings or jewelry to give as gifts. Others want to sculpt miniature figures or decorative pieces. The goal is for each student to finish something they're genuinely proud of — something that came entirely from their own imagination. Along the way we'll talk about the process too: starting something, pushing through when it gets tricky, and seeing it all the way through. Those lessons tend to stick around a lot longer than the clay does.","fullyFundedDate":1767211214647,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-happiness-creative-clay-days-i/9815360/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Happiness: Creative Clay Days in Advisory","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dumar","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7179562_orig.png?crop=635,635,x41,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733028146598","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msdumar"},{"teacherId":8925722,"projectId":9901246,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our Dystopia unit. One memorable moment happened during a small group activity when students used the new materials to explore concepts together and explain their thinking. Instead of just listening to instruction, they were actively creating, experimenting, and discussing their ideas with each other. It was powerful to watch students take ownership of their learning and confidently share their reasoning with their peers.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were incredibly excited. Many of them immediately wanted to explore the supplies and asked when they could start using them. Their enthusiasm reminded me how much access to engaging resources matters. For many of my students, these tools provide learning experiences that they might not otherwise have access to, and it was clear that they felt proud to have new materials in their classroom.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our lessons, these resources will help support deeper learning and more interactive activities. Students will continue using the materials in upcoming projects where they can collaborate, solve problems, and apply what they are learning in meaningful ways.
