Your support has made a meaningful and lasting impact on our classrooms.\r\n\r\nBecause of your contribution, our students now have access to non-permanent vertical whiteboards, which have transformed the way they engage with mathematics. These tools have allowed us to implement the strategies from Building Thinking Classrooms, creating an environment where students actively collaborate, communicate, and problem-solve in real time.\r\n\r\nThe shift to a problem-solving approach has significantly increased student engagement and ownership of learning. Rather than relying on passive methods, students are now working together to develop strategies, test ideas, and refine their thinking. This process not only deepens their conceptual understanding but also builds confidence, perseverance, and critical thinking skills.\r\n\r\nWe have observed students taking greater risks in their learning, explaining their reasoning more clearly, and supporting one another in productive ways. The classroom has become a space where thinking is visible, valued, and shared.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has directly contributed to creating a more dynamic and equitable learning environment for our students. My students have been diving headfirst into our latest ELA projects with a level of engagement that is honestly refreshing to see in middle schoolers. We are currently using the materials to build out our narrative writing units; the kids are using the new supplies to map out character arcs and setting details that are more vivid than anything they were producing before. One of my students even remarked that having the right tools made it feel like they were professional authors preparing a manuscript.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes first arrived and we opened them together in class, the reaction was pure excitement. There was a genuine buzz in the room as they realized people they do not even know cared enough about their education to send these items. The kids are super grateful for your support; they spent a good portion of that first hour just exploring everything and talking about how much easier their work was going to be. It was one of those classroom moments that reminds you why you get into teaching in the first place.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, our next steps involve using these resources to transition from our rough drafts into final creative portfolios. We are going to be focusing on peer editing and structural revisions, and having these dedicated materials means every student has exactly what they need to succeed without having to share or wait. Students that would sleep during class or otherwise completely dis-engage from the lesson are now able to get their energy out AND learn at the same time. \r\n\r\nSo many of my special education students are academically behind their peers due to learning disabilities, ADHD, as well as a myriad of other disabilities. Several students immediately started sketching ideas, while others eagerly tested how the hot glue flowed or how the dowels could connect. For many, it was the first time using tools like glue guns in a classroom setting, and the sense of independence and responsibility helped boost their confidence. You could see their pride as their creations shifted from sketches to sturdy, three‑dimensional prototypes.\r\nThese resources are now becoming a core part of our ongoing hands‑on science lessons. Our next steps include a project where students will design functional prototypes to solve real‑world problems—everything from simple machines to models demonstrating energy transfer. I work with students who experience behavioral challenges, and having meaningful, motivating rewards makes a huge difference in helping them work toward their goals. The very first day the items arrived, the students' eyes lit up—they couldn't believe these rewards were for them. Several immediately started talking about how many points they needed to earn their favorite snack or fidget, which sparked wonderful conversations about goal-setting and positive behavior choices.\r\nWe've already begun using the store during our daily behavior reflections. Students track their points, review their progress, and choose how to budget and save for the items they want most. This has created a natural opportunity to practice self-management, delayed gratification, and celebrating small wins. One of my favorite moments so far was when a student who tends to struggle with regulation proudly announced that he had saved enough points for a fidget he'd been working toward all week—his excitement was contagious.\r\nBecause of your support, our PBIS store has become a powerful tool for building positive routines and reinforcing the growth we're working so hard to achieve. Our next step is to continue expanding the kinds of rewards students can earn and to use this momentum to strengthen their goal-setting and reflection skills.
