The supplies will help my students in the giant pumpkin club learn skills to be self-sufficient, self-reliant, and just have an all-around good time learning about the outdoors and gardening. Gardening is a skill and hobby that among middle school and high school age kids is seen as an activity for “old people.” But this club provides students an opportunity to get their hands in the dirt and learn about the amazing things that nature has to offer. They learn skills like soil preparation, seed germination and planting, plant health and care, and produce harvesting. Students also work towards the possibility of constructing and contributing to community gardens in our local area. But above all the students learned that they are able to reap real rewards for the hard work that they put into an activity. We grow giant pumpkins because it allows the students to see their successes on an enormous scale and that huge fruit then serves to bring in new interest in new students to the activity. Please support our club we would be ever so grateful. The fertilizer is specially formulated for maximum gains in Giant pumpkins. It is also a renewable resource that the company uses to reduce environmental impact. The shovels, rakes, and spading forks will be used for soil prep and turning, any garden needs good tools for moving soil. The bolts will be used to secure the greenhouse gates to prevent unwanted wildlife from feasting on our garden produce. These supplies will be greatly appreciated and well used for many years to come. Thank you so much.
