Not all students are the same and enjoy sitting on a hard chair or hard floor while learning. The floor cushions have made learning around the classroom a lot easier for my students. They can comfortably absorb new information from any location in the classroom without being uncomfortable. Some students work with tutors in the hallway; the cushions allow them to maneuver around the floor with ease. Students in my classroom are learning to read quickly, and having the seat cushions to lie on while reading a good book makes reading much more enjoyable. \r\nThe handheld dry-erase paddles have made student engagement skyrocket. I can quickly check student understanding without having to grade tons of papers. This has been very beneficial in all subject areas. Other classes have been able to utilize the dry-erase paddles in my classroom with my class in friendly review games and skill checks. These opportunities would not be possible without your generous contribution. We appreciate it so much! I serve primarily low income students, so I strive to expose them to as much art, history and culture as I possibly can so that they can see all that the world has to offer. Right now Japanese culture is really popular, so I have tried to incorporate it into lessons for my older students. They were so curious about the fish and were excited to finally use them. \r\n\r\nI taught my students techniques from the art of shibori, or Japanese tie dye. Gyotaku is a tradition of printing fish to record a trophy catch. Each student dyed a 12x12 fabric square, and then we printed each one with the fish of their choice. Our rotating stations run much more smoothly thanks to the self-contained boxes in which they can now be stored. The students know which items are on which shelves, and this makes life so much easier.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the boxes get delivered, they were already excited. They had no idea if it was even something for them or not, they were just happy to be receiving a delivery to the classroom. They were even more excited the following day when I had the chance to open it up with them in the room. They couldn't wait to get their hands on the sensory items. Everyone wanted to be the first to choose which calm strip they could add to their desk. The squishies were also a big hit. We are using them now during our glow review party, and they glow in the black light almost as bright as the students' smiles. The clear bins are storing the room transformation items, and the students are getting excited to use them.","fullyFundedDate":1739372330335,"projectUrl":"project/organization-with-a-side-of-sensory-stim/9052543/","projectTitle":"Organization with a Side of Sensory Stimulation","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Neely","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8314545_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1667667555011","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8314545"},{"teacherId":7592278,"projectId":8799678,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations!
