Your contribution directly fuels both their bodies and their ability to learn—and we want to share what's already happening in our classrooms. Last Monday, my second-grade class was doing a phonics lesson on bossy-r's when energy dipped around 10:45 a.m. The students were restless, struggling to focus on which spellings made what sound. When snack time arrived, something remarkable happened. As students munched on your donated granola bars and fruit, the room transformed. Within minutes, hands shot up with answers. One student, who typically sits quietly, suddenly exclaimed, \"Oh! I hear it now, -are and -ear make the same sound! The difference was visible and immediate. This scene repeats daily across each week. \r\n\r\nWhen we first distributed the snacks, the excitement was palpable. Students who arrive at school without breakfast lit up when they saw the colorful boxes. One second-grader asked, \"Is this really for us?\" The pride in their faces—the feeling of being seen and cared for—was as nourishing as the food itself. The students became more willing to participate, raising their hands, and taking academic risks. \r\n\r\nYour snacks have become woven into our daily learning in powerful ways. Reading groups now meet during snack time with students more engaged and able to sustain focus through longer texts. Math stations show improved problem-solving as students have the energy to tackle challenging concepts. Science experiments benefit from focused attention as students can follow multi-step processes without distraction. Social-emotional learning circles are richer because students feel cared for and secure. \r\n\r\nYour partnership has made us dream bigger, and we're excited about what's ahead. Looking ahead, we hope to expand donations to include more variety, ensuring all dietary needs are met, and we dream of creating a student garden where kids can grow their own snack vegetables—learning about nutrition, sustainability, and responsibility together. \r\n\r\nYou're not just a donor—you're a partner in transformation. Every snack you provided represents a moment of focus, a raised hand, a breakthrough. You've given our students permission to thrive. Thank you for believing in our students and for fueling their success.","fullyFundedDate":1770511857253,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-up-focus-snack-smarter-learn-be/9799997/","projectTitle":"Fuel Up & Focus: Snack Smarter, Learn Better!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Parris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8559743_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691889905758","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8559743"},{"teacherId":8559743,"projectId":9799645,"letterContent":"We are deeply grateful for the donation of quiet testing spaces for our classrooms. This initiative has had a meaningful impact on student performance and well-being by improving focus and concentration during assessments, leading to increased test performance particularly for students with diverse learning needs. Beyond academics, the quiet spaces have reduced test anxiety and increased student confidence, providing a calming environment that supports emotional regulation during high-stress moments and helps students feel supported and understood. \r\nMost importantly, this accommodation ensures fair and equitable access to testing conditions for all learners, including students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and others with diverse needs, leveling the playing field so every student can demonstrate what they truly know. \r\n\r\nOur students were immediately excited when they first encountered the quiet testing booths, expressing relief and gratitude for a dedicated space where they could focus without distractions. We've seen this enthusiasm translate into real classroom moments—such as when one student with test anxiety completed a challenging math assessment with visible confidence, later sharing that the quiet space helped them think clearly for the first time during a major exam.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we're integrating these spaces into our regular assessment cycle and looking into expanding their use across all grade levels and subject areas, allowing more students to experience the benefits of equitable testing conditions. Your generous support has not only created more valid and equitable assessments but has also sent a powerful message to our students that their success matters and that we're committed to removing barriers to their achievement.","fullyFundedDate":1766699014373,"projectUrl":"project/brain-booths-personal-zone-for-test-tri/9799645/","projectTitle":"Brain Booths: Personal Zone for Test Triumph","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Parris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8559743_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691889905758","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8559743"},{"teacherId":8314545,"projectId":9281121,"letterContent":"My students have flourished in the classroom thanks to the items purchased with your donation. Not all students are the same and enjoy sitting on a hard chair or hard floor while learning. The floor cushions have made learning around the classroom a lot easier for my students. They can comfortably absorb new information from any location in the classroom without being uncomfortable. Some students work with tutors in the hallway; the cushions allow them to maneuver around the floor with ease. Students in my classroom are learning to read quickly, and having the seat cushions to lie on while reading a good book makes reading much more enjoyable. \r\nThe handheld dry-erase paddles have made student engagement skyrocket. I can quickly check student understanding without having to grade tons of papers. This has been very beneficial in all subject areas. Other classes have been able to utilize the dry-erase paddles in my classroom with my class in friendly review games and skill checks. These opportunities would not be possible without your generous contribution. We appreciate it so much! I serve primarily low income students, so I strive to expose them to as much art, history and culture as I possibly can so that they can see all that the world has to offer. Right now Japanese culture is really popular, so I have tried to incorporate it into lessons for my older students. They were so curious about the fish and were excited to finally use them. \r\n\r\nI taught my students techniques from the art of shibori, or Japanese tie dye. Gyotaku is a tradition of printing fish to record a trophy catch. Each student dyed a 12x12 fabric square, and then we printed each one with the fish of their choice. They had no idea if it was even something for them or not, they were just happy to be receiving a delivery to the classroom. They were even more excited the following day when I had the chance to open it up with them in the room. They couldn't wait to get their hands on the sensory items. Everyone wanted to be the first to choose which calm strip they could add to their desk. The squishies were also a big hit.
