Students were so excited to see their own sketchbooks at their seats when they entered the art studio this week. For many of my students, having a sketchbook of their very own feels like being given a special place to collect their ideas, observations, and creativity. \r\n\r\nThese sketchbooks will become an important part of our art learning this year. Students will use them to explore and develop their ideas. Students will individualize their sketchbooks with collage art covers that reflect their own interests, likes and identity. In the spring students will be doing a series of drawing studies that will take place outside in our school garden, making observations about the plants, insects and animals that they see. We will study form, shape, line, balance and color during this series building on student's understanding of art elements and the principles of design. Their sketchbooks will also be used to create plans such as mood boards for larger projects in mask making and mixed media sculpture. Ultimately, these books will be a space for my young artists to record their creative journey and document their growth over the year. \r\n\r\nI know that students will cherish these books as they fill the pages and take them home at the end of the 26'/27' school year. Thank you for providing this opportunity to my students at TCN. We are grateful for this opportunity.","fullyFundedDate":1779038710523,"projectUrl":"project/little-lines-and-big-creativity-sketchin/10256660/","projectTitle":"Little Lines and Big Creativity Sketching","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Vanessa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10491295_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777868994115","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10491295"},{"teacherId":123136,"projectId":10310662,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our Word Origins project! Your generosity will give my students something much more powerful than a list of spelling words to memorize—it will give them the tools to understand how words work.\r\n\r\nWith this curriculum, students will explore roots, prefixes, suffixes, and common word patterns. They will begin to recognize connections between words, understand where words come from, and use what they know to figure out unfamiliar vocabulary. Instead of learning a word for a Friday spelling test and forgetting it the next week, students will develop strategies they can carry with them into every book they read, every piece they write, and every classroom discussion they join.\r\n\r\nThis is especially important as students move into upper elementary grades and encounter increasingly complex texts and academic vocabulary. Understanding the meaningful parts of words can help students approach challenging vocabulary with greater independence and confidence. It also encourages curiosity—students begin to see words as something they can investigate, take apart, and make sense of.\r\n\r\nYour donation will help provide our classroom with a research-based word study program that strengthens reading, writing, vocabulary, and overall literacy development. Most importantly, it will help students see themselves as capable readers and writers who have strategies for tackling words they have never seen before.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in learning that will extend far beyond a single lesson or school year. Your support is helping my students become stronger, more curious, and more confident readers and writers.","fullyFundedDate":1781718071156,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-the-power-of-words/10310662/","projectTitle":"Unlocking the Power of Words","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hatschek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp123136_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1448858786150","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/123136"},{"teacherId":123136,"projectId":9532206,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of color printing for our classroom. Your donation may seem like something simple, but it has a powerful impact on my students' daily learning experience. Because of your kindness, I am able to provide students with learning materials that are vibrant, engaging, clear, and accessible. Color makes such a difference for young learners, especially when they are working with charts, visuals, maps, diagrams, vocabulary supports, anchor charts, graphic organizers, and classroom displays. Your support helps bring learning to life in a way that black-and-white copies simply cannot always do.\r\n\r\nIn our 5th grade classroom, color printing supports learning across every subject area. \r\nStudents are able to study maps, timelines, diagrams, photographs, and primary source images with much greater clarity. A color map or science diagram allows students to notice details that might be lost in black and white. Whether students are learning about ecosystems, historical events, geography, or engineering, color visuals help them ask better questions and deepen their understanding. These materials support curiosity and help students access complex content in a more meaningful way.\r\n\r\nYour donation also helps make our classroom more inclusive and supportive for all learners. Many of my students benefit from visual supports, and color printing allows me to create materials that are easier to understand and use independently. For multilingual learners, color-coded vocabulary cards, picture supports, and sentence frames can make new language more accessible. \r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful impacts of this project is that students feel proud of their work. When students receive high-quality printed materials, they can tell that their learning matters. They take more care with their assignments, their projects look more polished, and they are excited to share their work with classmates and families. Color printing helps turn ordinary classroom tasks into materials students want to engage with, save, and celebrate. It adds joy and beauty to our learning space.\r\n\r\n\r\nThank you for helping provide my students with tools that make learning clearer, more colorful, and more engaging. Your donation supports not only the materials students hold in their hands, but also the confidence they build as learners. You have helped make our classroom a place where students can see ideas, organize their thinking, express themselves, and take pride in their hard work. Many students, especially the multilingual learners I teach, are supported with visuals and step-by-step examples. They have become more engaged because they can follow the modeling more clearly. Through access to social-emotional learning materials and structured opportunities to practice regulation and communication skills, students have developed stronger tools for managing emotions, solving problems, and building positive relationships.\r\n\r\nIn the classroom, students are increasingly able to identify and express their feelings using shared language and strategies introduced through SEL resources. Calm-down tools and guided reflection activities have helped students pause, regulate, and return to learning more quickly, resulting in increased instructional time and improved focus during academic lessons.\r\n\r\nPeer interactions have also shown meaningful growth. Students demonstrate greater empathy, improved conflict-resolution skills, and a stronger understanding of how their actions affect others. Situations that previously escalated into disruptions are now more often resolved through conversation, problem-solving, and the use of classroom strategies students have practiced together.\r\n\r\nThe impact extends beyond the classroom as well. Students have begun applying these skills during recess, group work, and at home, as families report children using emotional vocabulary and coping strategies learned at school. These shared tools have strengthened the connection between school expectations and students' everyday experiences.\r\n\r\nOverall, the project has contributed to a more supportive classroom environment where students feel safe, respected, and ready to learn. By strengthening social-emotional competencies, students are better equipped to engage academically, collaborate with peers, and develop the confidence needed for long-term success both inside and outside of the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1640113903248,"projectUrl":"project/sel-positive-outcomes-inside-and-out-of/6076478/","projectTitle":"SEL: Positive Outcomes Inside and Out of the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Isabella","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7880421_orig.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695067434952","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7880421"},{"teacherId":265,"projectId":9971232,"letterContent":"A million thanks for supporting my wonderful kindergarten students and their families.
