The waterfall is a favorite for the students as they remember the water sounds as they close their eyes to breathe in and count. \r\n\r\nThe color printer allows students to have colorful breathing cards to reference. The laminator keeps the cards clear and reusable for everyone. Students have even been able to see some of their finished models they created inside the frame that shows different examples and styles. Students can draw on the table or relax with partner work on the soft fluffy green rug. The students gathered on the rug after lunch. I read a different story each day to highlight differences in hair, skin, eyes, and more. The students locked in and embraced each character as they related to the individuals' experiences. These mentor texts became the cornerstone of their writing. The stories encouraged them to embrace their individuality because they reflected stories they relate to.\r\n\r\nAthena, Calani, Zoe, and Laiyah are students in our class who seemed deeply impacted by the stories your contributions brought. They latched on to every word as the author described how the character's hair was braided and beaded with love by her father.
