I've requested many books to expand our classroom library. Magic Tree House books will be used in my small groups. These are high interest to students because they are imaginative narratives, yet they also teach a lot of history (because the main characters go back in time to places around the world. ) This will give me opportunities to teach both information text and literature based standards. RL.2.1, RL.2.3, RL.2.6,RI.2.3 Students will discuss plot events, character's point of view, theme, and more! We will also be able to expand on the historical events in the stories. Getting books in students hands that are on their level, that they truly want to read will also help them build their reading fluency. RF.2.4 My students are all very eager to start chapter books! They have been begging me to get more in my classroom!
