Doing any kind of painting is a first time experience for the majority of my students. First of all because they are young - Kindergarteners. They come from low income homes. We live in a rural area where there are not a lot of extra curricular activities available. Most students have not traveled or visited other locations in Nevada let alone other states where such activities are more available. \r\n When I first introduced the art form to the students, they could hardly get through the explaination and procedures for using watercolors because they were so anxious to try it out. We began by watching a video of an art teacher demonstrating a very beginning, age appropriate watercolor technique the students would be able to do. \r\n Students gained knowledge of the art form, learned a new skill, practiced using the watercolor, saw a difference between regular paper and watercolor paper, and throughly enjoyed the experience. Anytime watercolor is offered in the classroom, everyone participates. Practicing with watercolors also helped the students develop better fine motor and eye hand coordination. A new interest/talent is being developed. All of the books have life lessons that extend past just students, but also remind the adults in their lives how all feelings are okay, we all feel worried or grumpy sometimes, and that it's our job to cope with feelings in an appropriate way. \r\n\r\nThe other items like sensory toys and calming lighting has made individual sessions more effective for students. They feel at ease to relax and get their feelings out. They are more willing to open up with things to busy their hands. \r\n\r\nThank you for these tools. Your contribution is already making a meaningful difference in our classroom.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our students now have greater access to technology that enhances learning, encourages creativity, and supports important digital skills. The flexibility of a mobile cart allows us to bring these resources directly to students when and where they are needed most, creating more engaging and interactive learning experiences.\r\n\r\nThe students love having the ability to be independent and get their computers themselves now. They have adapted well to finding their \"special\" slot and plugging in their own power cord. They were beyond excited when they learned they would be able to do it on their own. \r\n\r\nYour investment is not just in equipment—it is in our students' growth, confidence, and future success. We began our Animal Projects by using the various books we received. The huge Animal Encyclopedia is especially popular and important because it contains the much needed platypus - one of the students chose that animal and needed a book. We used various sources, the internet, books, magazines, and informational videos in this project.\r\nNext, students used pizza boxes and paint to start their animal habitats. We received several packages of molding clay to create their own creature. They also had access to small, hand-held creatures for their habitats. They used an abundance to pipe cleaners and stickers and beads. The decorative rock we received was a huge hit! The kids loved that detail.\r\nFinally, students put it all together to create animal habitats for their chosen animal. The students were interested and engaged. They presented their habitats at the I Am Proud showcase our school has each quarter. Family's were impressed and students were proud. It was an amazing event. \r\nThank you again for all the supplies and support - we couldn't have dove it without you!","fullyFundedDate":1768252855890,"projectUrl":"project/animals-of-the-world/10007656/","projectTitle":"Animals of the World","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. MCPARTLAND","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3614292_orig.jpg?crop=2093,2093,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700260832898","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3614292"},{"teacherId":9555387,"projectId":9105507,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my classroom project!
