I am a first-year teacher and set up my Kindergarten classroom on an 11th-hour notice. All items in my room were scavenged from storerooms and donated by other educators. It is time to tailor my reading area and art center to my students. During this troubled time, many of my students require a place to read comfortably and/or refocus. The flexible seating I have requested will assist me in creating a reading center/library that will allow them to reach and surpass level 4 DRA. It will also give my students an area where they can go to refocus, a skill they will use throughout their lives. The art center and fort building kit will assist me in my approaches to playing and learning to help promote my student's overall healthy development and academic learning. This art center and flexible seating will help them immensely by providing an environment conducive to learning.
