The new outdoor materials have given my students more opportunities to explore, create, imagine, and learn through meaningful play in a safe and developmentally appropriate environment.\r\n\r\nI've seen my students become more engaged and confident during outdoor play as they explore new materials, interact with their classmates, and practice important skills through hands-on experiences. They are learning to take turns, communicate with one another, solve problems, and try new things—all while strengthening their gross motor, sensory, and social-emotional skills.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, our garden has become a place where my students can experience success. Children who may not be able to access the school's main playground now have an outdoor space where they can participate, explore at their own pace, and feel confident in what they can accomplish.\r\n\r\nOur first project helped us create the foundation for a meaningful outdoor learning environment. Now, we have the opportunity to build on that success by adding a climbing structure that will provide even more opportunities for movement, challenge, independence, and growth. With continued support, we can keep transforming our garden into a place where every child has the opportunity to play, learn, and thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1785770253516,"projectUrl":"project/transforming-our-garden-space-into-a-pre/10423356/","projectTitle":"Transforming Our Garden Space Into a Preschool Learning Playground","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Justine","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8595214_orig.png?crop=906,906,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660080220068","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8595214"},{"teacherId":10576571,"projectId":10463760,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping make our classroom a more inclusive, organized, and welcoming place to learn! My third graders have been so excited to see our new classroom resources become part of their everyday learning. The flexible seating, wiggle seats, fidgets, and comfortable spaces give students more choices in how they learn and help them find what works best for their individual needs. I have already seen students who have difficulty sitting still become more comfortable and focused when they can move or use a fidget appropriately while listening and learning.\r\n\r\nThe technology has also added a wonderful new dimension to our classroom. Our speaker and microphone help make directions, read-alouds, music, and whole-class activities easier for everyone to hear and participate in. It is especially exciting for students during interactive lessons and classroom celebrations! Even the fluorescent light covers have helped create a calmer, more comfortable environment, while the bookshelves and storage resources are helping us keep materials organized and accessible. Having an organized classroom means less time searching for materials and more time learning together.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these resources send a message to my students that their classroom was designed with them in mind. Every child learns differently, and I want my students to feel comfortable, capable, and included. Thank you for investing in our classroom and helping me create a space where my students can learn, move, explore, and grow together. The sturdy seating has made our small-group space feel more welcoming and purposeful, giving students a comfortable place to gather while we work together. The stools are especially helpful during reading, math, and intervention groups because students can easily sit together, participate, and stay focused.\r\n\r\nThis space has quickly become one of the most useful areas in our classroom. I love being able to bring a small group together for targeted instruction, extra practice, or enrichment while other students work independently. Moving forward, we will continue using this space every day to build skills, ask questions, collaborate, and celebrate progress. They love having fresh stories and new characters to discover, and the books have quickly become a favorite part of our classroom. We are using them during independent reading, partner reading, read-alouds, and small-group activities. Having a variety of books also gives students more opportunities to find stories and topics that genuinely interest them.\r\n\r\nOne of the best moments has been watching students browse through the new books and immediately start recommending favorites to one another. Our next step is to continue building our classroom reading community by exploring these books together, sharing our thinking, and encouraging students to read throughout the school day.
