While donors often think of classroom technology as digital tablets, for my students, \"technology\" encompasses any specialized tool that bridges the gap between their current physical abilities and their functional goals. These items act as a \"full-body\" interface for learning; using a bean bag to hit a target requires complex visual-motor integration—the same brain-to-body coordination needed for a student to eventually master handwriting or track words across a page.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting aspect for the students is the scale and novelty of the equipment, which turns repetitive therapy into a motivating challenge. I have seen children who typically struggle with gross motor planning and proprioception—understanding where their body is in space—become completely captivated by these games. By turning a balance exercise into a \"target mission,\" students are practicing core stability, weight shifting, and bilateral coordination without the frustration that often accompanies traditional clinical tasks. One particular student, who often finds standing and reaching exercises exhausting, was so motivated to complete the Tic-Tac-Toe board that they doubled their usual movement repetitions, demonstrating the incredible power of play-based intervention.","fullyFundedDate":1768111089115,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-movement-and-independence/9994101/","projectTitle":"Empowering Movement and Independence","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Natasja","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9376852"},{"teacherId":10402270,"projectId":10010147,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our project, \"Making Math Make Sense: Hands-On Learning for 4th Grade Thinkers.\"\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were so excited and they couldn't wait to start using them! We've been using fraction strips and hands-on models to build and compare fractions, and I've already seen students have \"aha\" moments as concepts started to click.\r\n\r\nThese resources are helping my students actively engage in math and grow more confident every day. Once the shelves were installed, students immediately noticed the change. Many students commented on how exciting it was to see books facing outward and featured in a way that made them easier to discover. The displays have created a more welcoming and engaging library space, and students often stop to browse the featured titles before looking at their usual sections.\r\n\r\nSince adding the display shelves, we have seen a noticeable increase in circulation. Books that previously sat unnoticed on traditional shelving are now being picked up regularly, simply because students can see the covers and quickly connect with topics that interest them. The displays have allowed us to highlight new arrivals, monthly themes, and high-interest topics, which has encouraged more spontaneous reading choices and greater curiosity among our students.\r\n\r\nThe shelves have helped turn browsing into an exciting experience and have made the library feel more dynamic and student-centered. Our new resources are being used daily to support students as they work toward mastery of their IEP goals and benchmarks. The materials are incorporated into small group instruction and individualized sessions to target specific skills such as speech and language development, comprehension, and functional communication. For example, during a recent small group session, students used one of the new game-based activities to practice answering \"wh\" questions. The format encouraged turn-taking, peer interaction, and repeated practice, allowing students to build skills in a motivating and supportive way. When students were first introduced to the materials, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to explore the new activities and quickly recognized that the materials \"felt like games.\" This increased engagement and participation, even among students who are sometimes hesitant to contribute. The playful format helped reduce anxiety and encouraged students to take risks, try new responses, and persist through challenging tasks.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, the next steps include continuing to implement these new materials consistently during instruction while collecting data on student performance with fidelity. This data collection and progress monitoring will allow us to measure growth toward IEP goals and differentiate and scaffold instruction as needed. As students build confidence and demonstrate increased independence, we will expand the use of the materials to support generalization of skills across settings and tasks. We are incredibly grateful for the support that made these meaningful learning opportunities possible.","fullyFundedDate":1768167933771,"projectUrl":"project/building-strong-communicators/9996119/","projectTitle":"Building Strong Communicators","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jennings","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6628793_orig.jpg?crop=467,467,x0,y161&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1565484797397","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6628793"},{"teacherId":5670284,"projectId":9996073,"letterContent":"In today's world, technology is often just for consumption, but this project has turned my students into creators. For our latest Project-Based Learning (PBL) unit, students are producing history podcasts, debating whether historical figures were heroes or villains.\r\n\r\nYour technology is helping them learn by bridging the gap between academic research and real-world application. They aren't just writing a report to turn in to me; they are crafting a script designed for an audience. They are learning how to enunciate, pace their speaking, and structure arguments logically—all while using professional-grade tools to make their voices sound clear and commanding.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting aspect of the microphone for my students is the instant \"pro\" quality. When they listen to their recordings, they don't sound like kids whispering into a laptop; they sound like true podcasters. That boost in audio quality immediately boosted their confidence.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who is usually very soft-spoken and hesitant to participate in class discussions, absolutely warmed to this new technology. With the microphone, she felt like she had a \"shield\" and a powerful tool at the same time. She volunteered to be the main narrator for her group because she loved how her voice sounded through the headphones. It empowered her to speak up and share her research with passion.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this seamless, professional-level experience possible for them. You have shown them that their voices matter, and that their stories deserve to be heard clearly.","fullyFundedDate":1768603149044,"projectUrl":"project/let-our-5th-graders-be-heard/9996073/","projectTitle":"Let Our 5th Graders Be Heard!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. P.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5670284_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533970794176","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5670284"},{"teacherId":8142294,"projectId":9997663,"letterContent":"The supplies from DonorsChoose made an immediate and meaningful impact on my 1st grade classroom.
