I also requested penguin plushies as an incentive for students who complete their ST Math journeys. Since the character in the program is a penguin, the plushies have been a great way to motivate students to finish their journeys 100%. We use it daily during our social studies lessons to help students visualize the world, identify different countries and continents, and better understand where historical events and places are located. Having a large map easily accessible allows us to make connections between our lessons and real-world geography. Whether we are discussing a country, exploring a new region, or learning about how geography influences people and cultures, the map provides a helpful visual reference for our students.\r\n\r\nWe have also received smaller laminated maps for students to use individually. Although we have not had the opportunity to use these maps in class yet, we are excited to introduce them next week as our eighth-grade geography class begins studying Asia. Students will be able to use the maps to locate countries, identify important physical features, and become more familiar with the continent. We look forward to having students work directly with the maps during our lessons and activities. These hands-on learning opportunities will help students build their geography skills, strengthen their understanding of world regions, and become more confident reading and interpreting maps.\r\n\r\nOur students have also enjoyed the geography stickers that were included with the donated materials. Stickers are a fun way to add excitement to learning and give students something enjoyable to connect with our geography lessons. Small additions like these can help create a welcoming classroom environment and encourage students to stay engaged with the material.\r\n\r\nWhen we first introduced the new resources, we were excited to see how they could enhance our classroom and support our social studies curriculum. Our students benefit from having visual materials that make geography more interesting and easier to understand. Having everyday essentials like Kleenex tissues delivered alongside our learning tools also kept our classroom fully stocked and running smoothly.\r\n\r\nWe are actively using these resources during our algebra and graphing units. Students use the individual centimeter grid whiteboards and algebra tiles to model equations visually before writing out abstract formulas. During a recent linear graphing lesson, small student groups worked together to map out equations on their individual grid boards while I modeled on the giant magnetic coordinate grid at the front of the room. One student who typically struggles with graphing was able to use the magnetic counters on the board to demonstrate their solution step-by-step to the rest of the class.\r\n\r\nUsing the cooperative learning guides and task books from this project, our next step is to transition into a group project where students will solve real-world math problems.
