Students are learning how to request specific items to meet individual needs and we see a huge improvement in their ability to attend to instruction/activities and calm their bodies when using these resources.\r\n\r\nDuring play to learn, students are asking to set up an obstacle course using the items from this project. They are increasing their gross motor skills while having fun with friends. The alphabet arc mat was an effective, hands-on tool that supported my students in identifying letter names and sounds. By physically placing letters in sequence, students were able to visually and kinesthetically reinforce alphabet order while practicing saying each letter name and its corresponding sound. This multisensory approach increased engagement and helped students who needed concrete supports to better remember and recognize letters.\r\n\r\nThe mat also helped students blend letter sounds to read words. As students manipulated letters along the arc, they were able to segment and blend sounds more intentionally, moving from isolated letter sounds to smoothly combining them. This process strengthened their phonemic awareness and made decoding feel more accessible and less intimidating.\r\n\r\nFinally, the alphabet arc mat supported my students in building and reading CVC words. Students used the letters to construct words, then practiced sounding them out and reading them aloud. This interactive practice reinforced the connection between letters and sounds, improved decoding skills, and built confidence as students successfully created and read simple words on their own.","fullyFundedDate":1764728377143,"projectUrl":"project/alphabet-rainbow/9874538/","projectTitle":"Alphabet Rainbow","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Soeur-Wollen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1081641_orig.jpg?crop=3837,3838,x0,y76&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1670974568986","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ssoeur"},{"teacherId":794009,"projectId":9406523,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation toward our kindergarten literacy and phonics materials request.
