As a student all throughout school I struggled with math. I found it to be boring and difficult. As a teacher I want to instill a love of learning in my students and I am determined to make math time engaging and successful for each of my students.
I want all of my students to have an equal opportunity to be successful in mathematics. My 21 students are coming to school with varying experiences in math, and varying ability levels and because my students come from all different backgrounds and have different levels of exposure to academic materials it is up to me to provide them with a rich and impactful experience in mathematics.
As a young first year teacher I have very little resources of my own. I would like to provide my students with materials that we can use during math centers, independent work time and during our math groups. I have chosen math supplies that I will be able to use to easily differentiate instruction for each individual child and these are materials that will excite my students.
The products that I have chosen can be easily used to differentiate lessons for my individual learners. For example, the Power Pen Math Quiz cards come with varying levels of difficulty so that all of my students can access them regardless of their math ability level.
Many of the products I have chosen are math activities that I can use year long with my students. For example, my students love working with our pattern blocks and adding in the pattern block design cards will help them harness their creativity in an intentional manner.
I will use these products daily and the products that I have chosen will assuredly last me and my students for years to come.
