The journals have been a big success thanks to your kindness and generosity. The majority of my students came to school without any school or art supplies. Basics like scissors, glue, tape and markers had to be provided, or we would not have been able to start any of my planned activities. The relief and assurance that students felt when they saw everything was provided, and knowing they didn't have to burden their families for things they can't afford meant they could focus on the joy and excitement of exploring and creating. \r\n\r\nWe have started to use the tweezers for our journals to handle things like small gems and magazine letters to create words. The geometric shape templates are perfect for creating background and border designs. The students have learned to use packing tape to make stickers, transfer images and secure a journal cover so that it looks like a handbag with handles. They loved creating the journal covers! We use glue sticks daily and could not complete what we create without them. The paper cutters are not only portable and easy for students to use, but they are much safer than the traditional paper cutter with a long blade that slices downward. Students would not be able to cut paper trim edges with a traditional paper cutter, but these portable paper cutters are perfect for middle school students. It is a nice addition to the art supplies because it allows for creative independence now that I do not have to precut paper before an activity. \r\n\r\nDonors Choose and the amazing people who contributed to this project have made it possible for me to bring fun, creativity and self-reflection to my students. They immediately recognized that these new materials meant more time moving, practicing, and actively engaging during our PE lessons. One of my favorite moments was watching a normally reserved student eagerly volunteer to help demonstrate how to use the ball mower. Within minutes, our class had turned retrieving scattered balls—usually a slow, tiring task—into a fun, cooperative activity. The new tennis balls have already helped us introduce more structured drills and stations, giving every student a chance to participate without waiting for equipment.\r\nThe first day we opened the box, the reactions were priceless. Students cheered, clapped, and crowded around the equipment, thrilled that our small gym now felt more like a real training space. Many of them had never used a ball mower before, and the sense of ownership and pride they showed as they learned to use it was inspiring. What could have been a simple equipment upgrade became a confidence-building moment for the whole class.\r\nGoing forward, these resources will allow us to expand our tennis unit and integrate more skill‑building activities that emphasize teamwork, coordination, and perseverance. We're now able to run rotating practice stations, small-group challenges, and even student-led warm-ups—all because we have enough materials and the tools to manage them efficiently. My students are excited to continue improving their skills and are already asking when they can try new drills they've seen professional players use. Your generosity has truly elevated what learning looks like for them, and we're so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1764915473837,"projectUrl":"project/for-the-love-of-tennis/9488418/","projectTitle":"For The Love of Tennis","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Calderon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2581708_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533303216101","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/zzcalderon"},{"teacherId":6194733,"projectId":9942413,"letterContent":"Thank you again so much for the incredibly generous donation to my classroom library!
