I work in a Title I, high poverty, diverse, urban school in Northern California. We have a high percentage of English Language Learners. My current classroom has 34 students, 19 of whom are ELL students. One of my students does not speak a single word of English. My students are often faced with difficult life circumstances, yet they arrive at school ready to learn. They are energetic and eager to give it their all. They work daily to strive toward their goals and do their personal best. They see themselves as future doctors, teachers, veterinarians, scientists, and many other things.
