Many of my students require support with executive functioning tasks, such as turning in assignments timely, even completing assignments. This project has brought fun seating options to my students, allowing them to be more comfortable while in the library. The new board games have helped students create memories and make friends here in our library, all while developing SEL skills. With the support of donors. The library has blossomed this year into a space where all students want to be. New books have brought smiles to students faces. My school serves a large Native American population, and Nevada is home to multiple Native American tribes. The Native American book set provided materials that students can relate to and learn from. One of the authors featured in the book pack is Christine Day. During reading week, two of my classes participated in an Author Live Event where Christine Day spoke about herself, her books and her life. This was a great way to bring the books to life and also connect the students with the person behind the book. Your support has provided us with essential tools that have immediately improved the daily flow of our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe arrival of the new calculators has been a game-changer for my students. They no longer have to share or worry about dead batteries during critical lessons. I had purchased some cheap calculators at the beginning of the year, trying to avoid the higher priced small Texas Instruments ones, and it proved to be a case of \"you get what you pay for\". They immediately broke, died, didn't compute properly etc. Having a reliable set allows every student to participate simultaneously, building their confidence in math and problem-solving. These calculators can withstand falling off of desks and being handled by middle schoolers, which is incredible!\r\n\r\nWe are also incredibly grateful for the \"simple\" things that make a huge difference: the posters, pencils, and the electric pencil sharpener. The educational posters help the students reference skills we have already covered or things they should know from elementary school. Having them up on the wall helps them be more independent when they \"forgot\" something they know they should know. \r\n\r\nAs for the pencils and the sharpener—they are easily the most popular additions! The students know that the pencil sharpener is expensive and precious! They broke one I had purchased at the beginning of the year, so they are much more careful with this one. It is also a much nicer and quieter one than what I had before. Another classic example of \"getting what you pay for\". My original one was less expensive than the one you generously donated. \r\n\r\nYour kindness has removed daily hurdles for my students, allowing them to focus entirely on their education. My students are learning through a fully digital curriculum that emphasizes animation, interactive models, and visual demonstrations to explain mathematical concepts. Instead of relying solely on text or static examples, lessons now show students how math works in real time, allowing them to visualize ideas like proportional relationships, transformations, and problem-solving strategies. This approach has increased student engagement and improved comprehension, especially for learners who struggle with traditional instruction.\r\nHowever, the effectiveness of this curriculum depends heavily on reliable technology. Our current laptops are outdated and often cannot load animations smoothly, run simulations, or store the necessary resources for daily instruction. These technical limitations disrupt lessons and shift students' focus away from learning and toward waiting for programs to load or restart. This project directly addresses that barrier by providing the high-performance technology needed to fully implement the curriculum as designed.\r\nWith updated hardware, I am able to run animated lessons seamlessly, model mathematical concepts using interactive graphics and simulations, and demonstrate real-world applications of math without interruption. The improved performance allows me to integrate advanced digital tools that connect math to technology, engineering, and data analysis, helping students see math as relevant, practical, and meaningful. Most importantly, this project ensures that all students—especially those who rely on school technology as their primary access—receive instruction that meets the demands of modern learning. As a result, math in my classroom has become more accessible, interactive, and engaging for every learner.","fullyFundedDate":1768687053987,"projectUrl":"project/a-high-performance-laptop-to-power-digit/10028982/","projectTitle":"A High-Performance Laptop to Power Digital Math Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ralls","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10406479"},{"teacherId":2557381,"projectId":10014248,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our Positive Behavior Incentive program is already making a meaningful difference for students. When the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students were eager to explore, build, and create. The KEVA Structures set quickly became a favorite, with students working in small teams to design towers, bridges, and original structures. I watched them naturally move through the engineering design process (including planning, testing, failing, and redesigning) while discussing strategy, balance, and structure in ways that felt authentic and student-driven.\r\n\r\nThe adjustable iPad tripod stands have allowed us to take creativity even further through LEGO stop-motion projects. Students have been planning scenes, sequencing movements, and bringing their stories to life frame by frame. One group recently created a short animation showing a structure being built and collapsing, then rebuilt stronger. This was an incredible visual representation of perseverance and problem-solving. These projects have strengthened not only their creativity, but also their communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.\r\n\r\nIn addition to these projects, students have enjoyed using the games to build collaboration and communication skills in a fun, low-pressure way. Looking ahead, we are excited to begin working with the TeacherGeek Wiggle Bots, where students will design and build moving creations while exploring motion, circuitry, and iteration.
