We are adding sixth grade to our middle school. This is the perfect time to add engaging literature to create their love of ELA. We will be reading the book Chains By Laurie Halse Anderson. This book is relatable to the students, as the narrator is their age. The book helps the students analyze text for different literary devices, yet keeps them engaged. We will also be reading A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. The students love this book! It keeps them engaged and laughing! It is chocked full of literary devices for the student to understand how they enhance a text.
